Applications Engineer

Summary/Objective:

We are currently seeking an inventive problem solver who can tackle technical challenges and implement practical solutions related to DC backup systems. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional initiative with a solid understanding of DC chargers, UPS systems, deep cycle batteries, and their integration into larger systems. This role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, become proficient in our product offerings, and effectively communicate technical information to both internal and external stakeholders, regardless of their level of technical expertise.

The Applications Engineer will manage projects of relatively short duration, collaborating across various teams involved in engineering, product development, implementation, and testing. Additionally, the successful candidate will stay informed about industry advancements to enhance our value proposition by addressing customer needs.

Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate design, specification, pricing, and post-sale technical assistance.
• Gather and interpret data to design appropriate solutions and meet deadlines.
• Interpret schematics and complete load calculations for various projects.
• Complete procurement specifications for materials.
• Support the sales team by identifying project design culminating in the form of a proposal.
• Communicate effectively with internal customer service teams and external clients.
• Ensure quality support tools are available for the sales team.
• Collaborate with staff, vendors, and businesses to achieve project goals.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET Accredited university, or equivalent work experience exceeding four (4) years.
• Strong technical and engineering design/planning skills.
• Excellent analytical and project management abilities.
• Strong project management, time management, analytical, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, lithium batteries, and DC Systems Design as well as a familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, UL, NEMA, NERC, CSA, ISO) is advantageous.

Interface:

This position will have regular contact with the following positions: Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Service and outside customers.

Environmental & Physical Demands:

The Applications Engineer position requires indoor/office work with occasional exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature changes.  The physical demands of this job requires the employee to sit for long periods of time and perform other desk and office related activities as well as work in our operations environment with our production and warehouse teams.

Travel:

Minimal; Less than 15% -possible travel to customer locations to assist sales force in application reviews
