AECOM seeks a Principal, Aviation Architecture/Engineering for our Buildings + Places leadership team to drive the growth of professional design services related to Aviation projects in the Southeast, to be based out of the Tampa or Orlando offices.  Candidate will be an architect, engineer, or planner with similar credentials with subject matter expertise in the planning, design, and delivery of innovative aviation facilities. The candidate will need to be a growth minded leader who can work collaboratively with senior leadership and mentor staff in a fast pace setting to support business development, marketing and communications, capture management, and strategy.  This role will be based out of our Tampa or Orlando office and be responsible for developing aviation business in the southeast.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Help build a strong and thriving culture in the Aviation practice that promotes equity, diversity, & inclusion, ESG, and innovation, while preserving technical excellence in our core competency

  • Ensures unflinching customer focus. The successful candidate will demonstrate deep customer insight, ensure a client driven culture, spearhead and support market-focused solutions

  • Collaborate with senior leadership team in the US  East Team on driving strategic growth initiatives throughout the region in the Aviation practice. (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Sustainability, Digital, and others)

  • Work with the US East B+P growth team in developing annual targets and goals for the fiscal year for Aviation, and own the Awards and Bookings KPIs

  • Provide leadership in recruiting and retaining top talent to the Aviation team, aligned with client needs and strategic pursuits

  • In collaboration with senior leadership, develop and own the long-term vision for sustained growth of AECOM’s Aviation business in the East

  • Oversee the capture process for key pursuits in Aviation to ensure best practices are being adhered to, and continuously improve capture results

  • Evaluate Aviation opportunities and determine which to pursue based on client understanding, pre-positioning, alignment with overall growth strategy, and AECOM strategic position

  • Oversee the client account management program for key clients in Aviation to ensure active management

  • Collaborate with local leadership across the East and organize civic engagement activities and be responsible for budgeting and tracking business development and civic spend

  • Be responsible for holding regular Aviation business development meetings with all relevant stakeholders and ensuring frequent and regular communication

  • Potential to be project manager and principal on key projects in the Aviation market

  • Track potential client project needs and capital planning programs throughout the East region, specifically large and medium hub airports

  • Attend events and conferences (as well as other organizations and conferences), as well as eventually serving on committees designated by the chapter(s)

  • Coordinate with internal resources and other business lines to promote overall market sector growth with our local clients

  • Engage with local marketplace with small and diverse business partners through regular meetings or planned AECOM events

  • Entry and tracking program and project pursuits in Salesforce Leading contract proposals for projects across the region

  • Collaborate and coordinate across relevant geographies and teams:

    • Across business lines with Energy, Transportation, Construction Management (AECOM Hunt), Program Management, and Environment

    • With East Region Leaders (key Metro/Cities leads, Regional Business Line Leads, Finance, Operations, and project teams)

    • With the Global Aviation team, specifically around major Aviation conferences, major trends, critical pursuits, capture management, technical practice networks, and client engagement

    • With other geographic regions around subject matter experts, sharing work, best practices, and internal workshops
