LRE (Leeward Renewable Energy) is a high-growth renewable energy company forging a sustainable future through integrity, innovation, and positive impact. As Manager, Technology Integration for LRE you will oversee the technical aspects of renewable energy plant project development, deployment, and site communications. This role will collaborate with the Operational Technology Manager, IT Managers, and organizational and third-party stakeholders on projects through FAT/SAT testing, and plant commissioning. This role involves managing a team of technical project managers, network security engineers, and SCADA engineers (SMEs) coordinating with the Operational Technology Manager, IT Managers, and with all the organizational and third-party stakeholders to ensure successful project execution from conception through commissioning and handoff to operations. Travel may be required during project design, repower / reconfiguration of various environments, and new site deployments.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the Technology Integration team on project development, acquisition, assembly, deployment, and testing of plant network, control systems, monitoring systems, and SCADA hardware that serves LRE’s renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and battery storage as well as for the broader organization.
• Lead and manage the Technology Integration Team on technical aspects of LRE’s renewable energy project development and deployment for wind, solar, and battery storage plants as well as for the broader organization in total.
• Provide technical guidance on logistics for the owner’s IT/OT rack/cabinet, communication circuits, network and SCADA system deployment, integration, and implementation through COD (Commercial Operation Date).
• Supervise and mentor the Technology Integration Team of engineers and technical project managers, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
• Oversee the management and updating of technical exhibits.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, developers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to interpret drawings and/or specifications and respond to requests for information to ensure compliance and successful project delivery.
• Oversee project budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions and adherence to financial constraints.
• Implement quality control measures to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the associated communications infrastructure for the plant and SCADA systems.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with communications infrastructure design, deployment, and site development to ensure a secure infrastructure for the SCADA system and operations.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications (technical exhibits), test plans, technical drawings (initial and as-built), and commissioning reports.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for communications infrastructure performance and project delivery processes to ensure a secure infrastructure for the SCADA system and operations.
• Lead and manage the Technology Integration Team in obtaining circuits for all the plant’s. communications requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred and/or 8+ years of experience in power plant networks, SCADA systems and associated communications infrastructure design and deployment, with at least 2 years in a managerial role preferred
• Proficiency in networking, and communication protocols, power plant networks, and SCADA systems.
• Proficient with Purdue model, firewall configuration (e.g. FortiGate), network configuration (e.g. Fortinet, Aruba, CISCO, Hirschmann, SEL)
• Strong project management skills with experience in energy projects, preferably renewable energy projects
• Proven leadership abilities with experience managing, mentoring, and developing engineering and technical project management teams
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with renewable energy projects and familiarity with industry standards and regulations
• Working knowledge of NERC compliance requirements
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
