What you will do
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing and processing all information necessary for an accurate and timely payroll for all US based employees.
- Payrolls include both weekly and biweekly pay frequencies for salary and hourly paid employees.
- Prepares and/or analyzes periodic payroll reports, payroll schedules and payroll related journal entries using established policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Also responsible for coordinating with payroll service provider to finalize payroll runs and on issues affecting payroll. This position will also be involved in continuous improvement and best practice initiatives.
How you will do it
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
- Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
- Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
- Basic understanding of federal and state regulations
- Load import files received from HR and Benefits
- Manage garnishment process with 3rd party vendor
- Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
- Process off cycle payroll runs
- Evaluate and implement appropriate payroll policies and controls and payroll processing and system enhancements to increase efficiency and streamline processes
- Problem solve and respond to issues/questions in payroll mailbox
- Assists staff with general questions related to payroll, leave accruals, wage deductions, fringe benefits, and other pay related issues
- Maintain payroll internal controls; ensuring proper procedures, policies and rules are applied to payroll activities
- Research complex payroll issues for proper treatment
- Perform year-end adjustments, such as sick pay, employee rewards, etc.
- Validate and assist with accurate and timely yearend processing, reporting and reconciliations when necessary
- Process/transmit files to third party vendors.
- Assist with account reconciliations as requested by Finance
What we look for
Required
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree with major in accounting or equivalent.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll
- Working knowledge of payroll best practices
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
- Ability to communicate with various levels of management
- Ability to work in a dynamic business environment and meet changing business needs and priorities
- Proficient in Excel and familiar with other Microsoft Office software
Preferred
- CPP preferred but not required
- ADP and Workday experience preferred but not required
