We are seeking a hands-on electromechanical engineering intern to assist our Product Development team! Reporting to a Sustaining Engineer, the intern will be responsible for validating sensors that aid our product performance. This is an exciting opportunity to help innovate in a fast-paced environment. The selected individual will work in a team environment that requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Role & Responsibilities:
● Develop and execute sensor validation and testing protocols, including setup of test rigs, data acquisition, and performance analysis to verify accuracy, reliability, and environmental robustness.
● Responsible for the experimental design to characterize sensor performance and variability
● Apply mechanical, electrical and/or controls related skill sets to support business initiatives
● Develop, debug, and verify hardware‑software interfaces
● Record data with a high attention to detail and perform necessary statistical analysis
● Make decisions that are data-driven in nature and prepare technical justification analysis reports
● Present to a highly technical audience with clarity and brevity
● Write standard operating procedures (SOPs)
● Work with engineering staff to provide support for key projects
● Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times
Qualifications:
● A rising sophomore or junior pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, or a related engineering field
● Hands‑on experience in sensor technologies, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
● Proficiency in data analysis and test automation tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) paired with strong technical writing skills for clear, concise documentation.
● Understanding of thermal radiation principles, including emissivity correction and infrared thermometry techniques for accurate non‑contact temperature measurement.
● Hands-on working experience with laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, and source meters
● Innovative spirit and curiosity to improve protocol efficiency, safety, and speed
● Hardworking, goal-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment with attention to detail
● Familiarity with using power and basic hand tools such as electric drills, saws, grinders, cutters and soldering iron
● Experience with CAD design software such as Fusion360, Inventor, Solidworks
● Hands-on experience in building mechanical prototype systems.
● Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form
● Creative, problem-solving mindset – outspoken team player
● Must be able to lift boxes and materials up to 50lbs
