Job Description
About Deep Sky: Deep Sky is on a mission to accelerate the world's transition to carbon removal by developing and operating direct air capture (DAC) facilities. Our state-of-the-art plant in Innisfail will play a crucial role in capturing CO₂ directly from the atmosphere, helping combat climate change on a global scale. Join us in this groundbreaking journey to achieve net-zero.
Job Overview: We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join Deep Sky's R&D Engineering Team onsite in Los Angeles, CA to design, analyze, prototype, and integrate electrical and electromechanical systems for Direct Air Carbon Capture reactors and the supporting test infrastructure including hardware-in-the-loop digital twin systems. If you have a passion for building robust systems, solving complex engineering challenges, working hands-on with the hardware, and not afraid to fail, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Rapidly develop electronics for Direct Air Carbon Capture reactors and supporting infrastructure including high power electronics, control systems and actuators, programmable logic controllers, reactor instrumentation, and harnessing.
- Create and review electrical load lists, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) for various plant and facility designs.
- Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, and testing.
- Design, procure components, integrate, and test electrical ground support equipment including data acquisition systems and electrical simulators.
- Create development and qualification testing campaigns to validate analysis and requirements and exercise designs to their limits.
- Build math and analysis models to verify initial design assumptions.
- Establish vendor relationships and healthy supply chain through each prototyping step through final integration.
- Lead multidisciplinary root cause investigations and component redesigns to improve reliability and production rate.
- Demonstrate extreme ownership of product outcomes at every stage of development and production
