Job Description
Role Summary
As Senior Policy Expert (all genders), you will drive the work of ProVeg e.V. forward and ensure that protein diversification is actively supported within Germany's political landscape. You will be responsible for the strategic direction of the department, maintain and expand your network, oversee the operational implementation of political projects, and ensure transparent documentation for funding bodies. Additionally, you will represent the department externally and continuously analyze the impact of our programs. Contract duration: From 01/04/2025, initially limited until 12/2026 Responsibilities
Strategy:- Develop the strategy for ProVeg’s political work in Germany in close coordination with the Head of Institutional Engagement and the Core Leadership Team.
- Design a synergistic strategy for policy and institutional lobbying, considering the lobbying register.
- Promote the development of a national strategy for protein diversification in collaboration with external partners.
Partnerships & Programs:- Represent the department externally, as well as within ProVeg International and to external stakeholders.
- Expand and maintain a network in politics and advocacy groups.
- Organize networking events and knowledge-sharing formats, sometimes in collaboration with other organizations.
- Support political public relations efforts and work closely with the Communications Team.
- Oversee the implementation and reporting of current ProVeg activities within existing grant-funded projects.
Team Management:- Lead the policy team, consisting of 1-4 members (at least one permanent employee).
- Assume personnel and budget responsibility for the department (>€50k).
- Design and manage OKR processes and optimize workflows to achieve ProVeg’s mission.
- Collaborate with the Fundraising Team to secure third-party funding and foundation grants for the department’s refinancing.
- Coordinate with other departments, international ProVeg teams, and NGOs to effectively implement joint projects.
- Develop OKRs and impact reports, including appropriate measurement parameters.
Qualifications
- You hold a PhD or at least a Master's degree/Diploma in Political Science or a related field.
- You have at least 10 years of professional experience, ideally in a leadership role.
- You possess in-depth industry knowledge in the fields of alternative proteins and sustainability.
- You have a strong and reliable network in food policy.
- You are experienced in developing, organizing, and moderating events.
- You work in a structured, independent manner and demonstrate strong teamwork skills.
- You can quickly grasp complex topics and have a strong willingness to learn.
- You have excellent communication skills.
- You are proficient in German and English at a C-level.
- You identify with the mission, vision, and values of ProVeg International.
