Job Summary

The Senior Director of Product and Process Development will lead the strategy and execution of product innovation and process optimization, ensuring a seamless transition from development to scalable manufacturing. This role will align technical feasibility with business objectives, commercial needs, and operational capabilities.

This is a leadership-first role, requiring an individual who can structure teams, develop product strategy, and ensure execution at scale. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader who excels in integrating complex workstreams, optimizing processes, and driving alignment across teams, with a proven track record of developing product strategies.

Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Development

  • Define and execute the product development roadmap, integrating commercial insights, technical feasibility, and operational requirements.
  • Prioritize and oversee product improvements, ensuring alignment with market demand, cost targets, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Translate customer and market insights into actionable product strategies, collaborating closely with commercial and technical teams.

Process Development & Industrial Scale-Up

  • Ensure successful technology transfer, leading the transition from product development to full-scale production while maintaining quality, performance, and cost objectives.
  • Oversee process optimization, ensuring that manufacturing processes are robust, cost-effective, and adaptable to product evolution.

Cross-Functional & Commercial Alignment

  • Partner with commercial teams to align product strategy with market demand, ensuring technical feasibility supports business objectives.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and external partners and suppliers to refine product specifications and optimize production methods.

Operational Execution & Decision-Making

  • Create structured decision-making frameworks, ensuring accountability, clarity, and execution speed across teams.
  • Define best practices for product development and process optimization, driving efficiency and scalability.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing team, ensuring strong leadership and execution capabilities across product and process development.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in product and process development, technology transfer, and industrial scale-up, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven ability to define and execute product strategy, including structured product roadmaps that align with commercial and operational goals.
  • Strong commercialization expertise, ensuring products are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with market expectations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving alignment between product development, manufacturing, and business strategy.
  • Expertise in scaling industrial processes from pilot to full-scale production, optimizing for quality, cost, and efficiency.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in English is required. Additionally fluency in Spanish and/or French is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (engineering, materials science, chemistry, business, or related field); MS, PhD, or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in a startup or scale-up environment is a plus, particularly in high-growth manufacturing settings.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of the time
