We are seeking a strategic and innovative risk management professional who will drive and support our Operational Risk Management Framework for the EMEA region, which enables the company to effectively identify, monitor, measure and control its operational risk profile. This role will reside within the Operational Risk team which is part of the broader Enterprise Risk Management function. The ORM team manages all aspects of the operational risk management program and provides senior management with data-driven reporting & analytics to support strategic planning and decision making.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive the ERM strategy and framework for EMEA region, including the facilitation of Risk forums/working groups, including developing agenda, preparing materials, and owning follow ups.

  • Conduct Risk Assessments leveraging Global Risk standards and templates with primary focus on Apollo EMEA and ISGI critical business functions and associated processes. 

  • Liaise with compliance on their compliance monitoring program and assess regulatory requirements and impacts. 

  • Represent Operational Risk at in-person EMEA specific Operational Due Diligence meetings and respond to other DD requests as needed.  

  • Support incident management through all stages (recording, analyzing, reporting, and closing) with associated remediations, as needed.   

  • Maintain awareness of EMEA market best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., DORA, etc.) for financial institutions regarding operational risk (e.g., Cybersecurity, Data, Model, 3rd Party) and risk governance in general.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).

  • Assist in building and maintaining risk reporting strategy and deliverables to senior management.

  • Ability to influence and interface efficiently with all levels of management.

  • Provide conceptual thinking and analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex problems that include interrelationships and dependencies in order to identify common themes and solutions.

  • Evaluate and improve efficiency of existing risk governance model.

  • Maintain various governance records including committee and organization structures.

  • Assist with Operational Resilience (BCP/CMP)as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 15 + years’ experience in financial services, risk management, internal controls, audit or organizational transformation initiatives

  • Outstanding leadership skills, Proven ability to engage and influence senior business leaders, earning trust as a strategic partner and advisor

  • Proven understanding of risk management tools / platforms such as Archer and/or Auditboard preferred

  • Demonstrated excellent capabilities in written and oral communications of complex thematic reporting, ability to influence and guide others at various levels of the organization with concise and logical communications

  • Proven strategic thinker and creative problem solver with the ability to analyze and synthesize sophisticated issues and identify common themes and solutions

  • Strong project management and time management skills with an ability to independently lead a project through to completion

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all business results

  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations, drive decision making, manage change, and learn quickly in a multifaceted business environment

  • Strong process orientation and operational expertise in implementing scalable solutions

  • Robust standard methodologies toolkit for data management, reporting, and presentations to support ongoing Operational Risk activities
