Job Description

This position, under the direction of the Vice President, Quality, oversees the X-energy Quality Assurance function. Provides strategic leadership and direction in Quality by implementing and maintaining Quality Assurance Programs required for deployment by ensuring compliance of applicable requirements for all activities throughout the program life cycle. Responsible to integrate and manage the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) including evaluation of compliance to customer QA requirements, legal requirements, regulatory regulations (as appropriate and defined by customer) and contract terms.


 

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Provide functional oversight of multiple managers for Project Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, Auditing Services, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Ensure that Quality work is properly captured in planning schedules and executed on time with high quality.
  • Oversight of the Quality Management System. Reports to executive management regarding Quality Management System status and, where appropriate, concerns over significant hazards and risks and recommendations for improvement.
  • Make judgments regarding quality and verify implementation of solutions and activities affecting quality in all program areas.
  • Ensure that the Quality Management System is compliant with applicable US nuclear industry, Canadian nuclear industry, government programs, and ISO 9001 quality management system standards.
  • Define the parameters for, and ensure quality oversight of, all X-energy projects.
  • Construction and maintenance of the X-energy Approved Suppliers List.
  • Ensure quality oversight of all Suppliers on the X-energy Approved Supplier List.
  • Ensure that all aspects of Suppliers audits are executed with high quality consistent with X-energy procedures and industry best practices.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the Corrective Action Program are executed with high quality consistent with X-energy procedures and industry best practices.
  • Establish a Customer Feedback mechanism in partnership with the Project Management Office function, for tracking and communicating X-energy’s performance as a Supplier.
  • Attend meetings and perform basic functions as the backup for the Vice President, Quality during their absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 plus years of experience performing quality/technical work in a commercial nuclear industry power plant or Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) designer or manufacturer.
  • 10 plus years total Commercial, Government, or R&D nuclear industry experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of quality requirements such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.1D, CSA N286, CSA N286.7, CSA N299.1, and ISO 9001-2015 (all preferred, but deep experience in either US, Canadian or DOE nuclear industry acceptable).
  • Extensive experience in the subject matter areas of Commercial Grade Dedication of nuclear design and analysis computer programs and Commercial Grade Dedication of items and services.   
  • Proven track record in establishing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring of Quality Management Systems.
  • In-depth knowledge and insight on Document Control, Record Management, and associated NIRMA Technical Guides.

Location:  530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD

Work Site Expectations: 5 days in office
Travel Expectations: 25-30% (as needed for project assignment)
Hours:  Standard office hours are 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday -Friday

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).  Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them.  Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions.  Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives. 

A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:

$179,850- $227,510. The compensation for this position is comprised of base salary plus an annual short term incentive which is variable, based on scope of responsibility and achievement of goals.
