Main purpose of position Currently we are looking for a Warehouse Supervisor in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Warehouse Supervisor, you will oversee and manage warehouse operations with a focus on procurement, inventory management, and loading processes. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods while maintaining inventory accuracy and optimizing procurement activities. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Main responsibilities
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse activities
- For time-to-time Lead and manage a team of contracted warehouse staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and products
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder stock as needed to prevent shortages
- Evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best pricing and terms
- Oversee the accurate recording and tracking of inventory levels
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations to maintain accuracy
- Implement and maintain inventory control systems to minimize discrepancies and losses
- Supervise the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring proper handling and documentation
- Coordinate with logistics providers to schedule and optimize dispatch activities
- Ensure all outgoing shipments are accurately labeled and meet quality standards
- Enforce warehouse safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards or issues promptly
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports on inventory levels, procurement activities, and loading operations
- Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager on warehouse performance and issues
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and activities for auditing purposes
Qualifications and competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse management, with a focus on procurement and loading operations
- Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP) is advantageous
- Experience with lean warehouse practices and continuous improvement methodologies

- The ability to work in a warehouse environment with frequent physical activity, including lifting and moving materials
- Occasional travel may be required for supplier visits and procurement activities
- Able to communicate clearly in a professional manner to various internal and external parties
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in warehouse management software and inventory control systems
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
