We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that’s energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently – we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it and mend it.
About your team:
At Centrica Energy, our mission is to move it.
We’re energy movers by nature. We’re a global renewable energy trading company which helps move energy from source to use – powering businesses, homes, and societies as they transition to a new sustainable energy future. If the idea of working to create a sustainable energy future also moves you, we may very well be the right place for you.
Centrica Energy is looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in DevOps practices, automation, ITIL, and IaaS to join our team. As a key player in our infrastructure team, you will be pivotal in the ongoing maintenance and operations of our Private Cloud platform. Our Private Cloud is a new VMware environment with VCF running all the Aria Suite tools, put in place earlier this year. We are still working on onboarding these new tools and learning all the great benefits this gives us.
The Role:
We are seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance of our systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support our operations and contribute to the continuous improvement of our IT services.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and Maintain IT Infrastructure: Oversee the health and performance of servers, networks, and applications to ensure seamless operations.
Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Provide timely and effective solutions to technical problems, minimizing downtime and ensuring system reliability.
System Upgrades and Maintenance: Plan and execute regular system upgrades and maintenance tasks to keep our infrastructure up-to-date and secure.
Automation and Scripting: Develop and utilize automation scripts (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell) to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT processes, procedures, and configurations.
Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure adherence to ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to protect our IT infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities.
Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps and development teams to support deployment and integration processes.
Be part of our operations rotation in the team, to learn and share the responsibilities and everyday monitoring and service desk tickets.
Experience with NetApp products is a plus.
Our infrastructure is mostly based on Windows Servers which is why experienced in running and maintaining infrastructure based on Microsoft products is required. We are working on migrating away from running systems and services on Windows infrastructure, and into more cloud native based products. Experience in both worlds is a major plus.
This role can be based out of Aalborg or Copenhagen. The current team is based in Aalborg and therefore some travel between locations is to be expected if you are based in Copenhagen.
You will be joining a team of 8 Infrastructure and Network specialists in a fun and relaxed environment. We have the global responsibility of Network, and Infrastructure in Denmark and remote offices around the world.
About You:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience (3+ years) in IT operations or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage.
Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell).
Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL) are a plus.
