Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Manager to be based in San Fransico, CA or San Jose, CA.
- Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
- Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
- Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering.
- Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
- Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
- Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
- Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
- Manages group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex systems operations and MEP design challenges by leading audits and investigations
- Provide technical advisory for the client's sustainability strategies (LEED, WELL, etc.) as they relate to MEP+L systems
- Provide centralized support to standardize and improve reliability & performance of building management systems (BMS), lighting control systems (LCS), energy management systems (EMS), fault detection (FDD), and critical alarm monitoring systems
- Proactively generate strategic recommendations to enhance service quality, optimize operational costs, mitigate technical risks, and improve workplace experience
- Provide MEP quality assurance & control for the client's capital projects
- Evaluating sites based on MEP information,
- Ensuring compliance with technical due diligence checklists,
- Managing communication between the owner and the landlord regarding MEP requirements,
- Recommending project partners,
- Participating in selection processes for various consultants,
- Issuing project requirements and guidelines,
- Reviewing and accepting design documents,
- Coordinating with different LinkedIn departments,
- Managing third-party security reviews,
- Overseeing commissioning agents,
- Holding MEP, general contractors, and sub-contractors accountable for their scopes during construction and ensuring a smooth handover and close-out process.
- Handling any remaining MEP issues until resolution.
- Travel to client's global offices required (approx. 25% of the time) to support LinkedIn MEP system performance
- Global Workplace Engineer is not acting as a licensed professional engineer
- Global Workplace Engineer shall not advise client with respect to any international leasing requirements
- Ownership and continuous improvement of the client's MEP Design Guidelines
- Management of Global Workplace Engineer(s)
