The HR Generalist provides comprehensive human resources support across a multi-state Area (AL/TN, GA, FL, NC/SC) in the South U.S., servicing a diverse workforce. This position plays a critical role in delivering a consistent, high-quality employee experience by leading orientation and onboarding processes, supporting employee relations, and helping to drive retention and engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with the Sr. HR Generalist, HR Business Partners, and field leaders. Hybrid Work Schedule which includes local travel (Fairburn, Stockbridge, Douglasville, Warner Robins, etc.) and 20% domestic travel to regional locations via car and/or airplane.



 

Key Responsibilities:

Onboarding & Orientation

  • Manage the full-cycle onboarding process for new hires across all regions (AL, TN, FL, GA, NC, SC)
  • Organize and train Onboarders and in some cases facilitate orientation sessions, ensuring consistency in messaging and compliance
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the 30-60-90-day check-in program
  • Oversee and coordinate the Onboarding Buddy Program to strengthen early engagement

Employee Relations & HR Support

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries and HR policy guidance
  • Assist with resolving employee relations issues in collaboration with the SR. HR Generalist and HR Business Partners
  • Help investigate complaints or concerns as needed, documenting findings and resolutions
  • Monitor trends in turnover, engagement, and onboarding effectiveness; recommend improvements

Regional & Administrative Support

  • Provide day-to-day HR support to operations teams across the South U.S. region
  • Maintain accurate records and HRIS data related to onboarding, status changes, and employee files
  • Partner with field leadership, Sr. HR Generalist, and HRBPs to reinforce company policies and culture

Compliance & Projects

  • Ensure HR practices remain compliant with federal and state labor laws
  • Assist with the implementation of HR initiatives and process improvements (e.g., onboarding revamp, engagement tracking, corrective action workflows)
  • Support special projects as assigned by the HR Business Partners and HR Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or related HR role, preferably in an industrial, field-based, or distributed workforce environment
  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel occasionally
  • Experience supporting onboarding, employee relations, and compliance efforts in a high-volume environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems (Workday, ADP, or similar)

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in the waste management, environmental services, or transportation/logistics industry
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
