Job Description
AECOM Water is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing Columbia, SC office. This role will lead and support design efforts for a variety of water infrastructure projects including treatment facilities, pump stations, and conveyance.
- Participates in development of technical proposals.
- Design low voltage and medium voltage electrical distribution systems for industrial water/wastewater applications, as well as, traditional building services.
- Perform design for lighting, fire alarm, telephone, security, and grounding systems.
- Prepare design drawings including single line diagrams, electrical plans, wiring schematics, schedules, etc.
- Prepare and develop engineering studies, reports, calculations, designs, specifications, and construction cost estimates in compliance with applicable code and standard requirements.
- Establish electrical equipment performance parameters based on project requirements and coordinate with equipment vendors to refine preliminary selections.
- Use computer software as a tool to solve engineering problems.
- Manage designs during construction including shop drawing review, information request response, and punch list generation.
- Provide quality assurance oversight and independent quality control reviews to support deliverables developed by others including calculations, plans, specifications, and engineering reports.
- Develop engineering fee estimates, assist with technical proposal preparation.
- Work within a project team environment, interfacing and coordinating with other disciplines and design team members.
- Collaborate with design professionals and project managers in other US offices.
- Occasional light local and national travel to project sites.
- Experienced with large, multidisciplinary projects in an engineering role.
- Perform electrical system designs including:
- Switchgears,
- Switchboards,
- Motor control centers,
- Variable frequency drives,
- Generators, transformers,
- Distribution panels, and
- Other electrical distribution systems components.
