About the Job

Energy storage is the most exciting area in energy today. Massive amounts of energy storage are required if renewable energy is to take its rightful place on the electric grid. Invinity provides an alternative to the most common type of battery, lithium-ion because the battery technology that works so well in our pockets doesn’t work as well at the grid scale; it wears out, limits use, and even catches fire.

Manufactured as a standardized product in a factory, Invinity’s vanadium flow batteries don’t degrade, won’t catch fire, and can be operated continuously from full charge to full discharge for 25 years. Invinity has 75 megawatt-hours of its modular battery systems in 82 projects across 15 countries - more than any other company in the space. We’ve deployed the largest flow battery systems in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the UK, and are supported by the UK's National Wealth Fund, some of the world’s leading institutional investors and our projects are backed by major institutions including the U.S. Department of Energy and the UK Government.

A compelling product and recent funding put Invinity in a position to grow dramatically as it addresses the global imperative for stationary energy storage. Join us as we help transform renewable energy into a stable and dependable contributor to the transition to net zero.

Invinity has operations in the UK, Canada and the U.S. and trades publicly in the UK on AIM and AQSE and in the U.S. on OTCQX. For more information about us visit our webpage.

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Application Developer to join our dynamic team. In this position, reporting to the Manager, Battery Control Software, you will be responsible for designing and building software that forms the heart of our distributed control and management platform.

This software has two key purposes - providing mission critical battery system functionality that can respond reliably and timeously to grid demands; and collecting and processing data for our cloud-based analytics platform. You will be exposed to real-time control, reliable networking and high performance computing.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded Linux software applications for our energy systems.

  • Develop and implement algorithms for energy management and battery control.

  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with hardware components.

  • Optimize system performance and ensure high reliability and efficiency.

  • Promote good software engineering practices through design and code reviews, ensuring maintainable, efficient, and scalable software

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Excellence in creating C/C++ application software for embedded Linux platforms.

  • Experience developing mission-critical systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Comfort working in an agile development environment and taking initiative in designs.

  • Familiarity with tools such as git, cmake, Jira, Jenkins.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • · Experience in the energy / power sector, including energy storage systems, renewable power systems, and power generation.

  • · Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages.

At Invinity Energy Systems, we are dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals and practicing wage transparency to ensure fairness and equity. The salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $130,000 and will be determined by a combination of the interview process, prior work experience, and educational background.

If you are great at what you do, willing to engage with our collaborative culture, and motivated by making a difference in the world, consider joining us. Invinity Energy Systems is small enough that every team member plays a critical role in our daily business, but large enough to participate in landmark clean energy projects around the world.
