About the opportunity:
The Engineering Manager - Power Systems is responsible for overseeing and managing the design and engineering team in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects with a high voltage power system focus. The role requires a strategic thinker with excellent design expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive innovation and creativity.
The Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and is responsible for leading and managing the design inputs, outputs, and overall process on selected projects from pursuit to delivery, in order to maximize successful project outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Define Winning Design Strategy: Secure the best design teams from the pursuit stage.
- Plan and Manage Design Aspects: Oversee design-related tasks throughout the project lifecycle to ensure safety, quality, budget, and time objectives.
- Administer Design Contracts: Manage the design process, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Budget and Progress Monitoring: Prepare forecasts, monitor costs, and report progress at each project stage.
- Foster Team Interaction: Encourage collaboration between design and construction teams, including HQ in Spain.
- Manage Expectations: Handle client and stakeholder expectations.
- Supervise and Mentor: Guide and develop the design management team.
- Promote Technical Excellence: Advocate for ACCIONA's technical excellence and contribute to internal knowledge sharing initiatives.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Exemplary project and contract management skills with commercial acumen.
- Solid knowledge of design management, processes, and tools.
- Strong understanding of interface requirements for multi-disciplinary projects.
- Good understanding of risk and opportunity management.
- Understanding of construction methods and bills of quantities.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations.
- Knowledge of design software and familiarity with ProjectWise or equivalent, and Teambinder or equivalent.
- Some understanding of BIM preferred but not essential.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills for working in a team environment with multiple internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Analytical skills with an eye for detail and accuracy with numbers.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Preference for candidates with an advanced degree (Master鈥檚 degree or MBA).
- Professional Engineering (Chartered Status or ability to achieve within the first 12 months of employment).
- Additional certification in project management (PMP) is beneficial.
