Job Summary

The Engineering Tools team is seeking a dedicated professional with experience in providing software support, engineering process optimization and operational efficiency to our end users and Lucid as a whole. Responsibilities include running our team’s support operations to troubleshoot MCAD, ECAD, CAE and System Engineering tools, and working cross-functionally with internal teams and external vendors to design and develop effective and efficient workflows around our software tools. This role will also involve assessing and procuring tools from new software vendors. This position is in Lucid’s Newark, CA Headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Operations Support
    • Be a key player in Lucid’s Engineering Tools team to implement and support Lucid’s engineering software tools and processes
    • Identify issues in production software environments and facilitate the development and implementation of solutions.
    • Management of 3DExperience platform user creation, roles, DSLS licenses, CAT environments, CATSettings and additional integrations including Technia CAVA, DCS Variation Analyst, RAMSIS and Cameo DataHub)
    • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues between PLM and other downstream systems
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tool performance, user experience and cost optimization through usage control or vendor negotiations
    • Develop and maintain internal documentation for frequently asked questions, how-to guides and Lucid-developed processes.
    • Build processes to manage customer support tickets in JIRA Service Desk or ServiceNow to prioritize high-quality support globally and scale the processes with automation and Self Service
  • Engineering Tools Expertise
    • Work with the internal CAD Quality, Development, and Solutions teams to understand the existing capabilities and limitations of current toolsets and processes
    • Expertise in 2 or more of these domains
    • Mechanical CAD Design (Dassault 3DExperience, AutoCAD, Fusion 360)
    • Electrical CAD Design (CATIA Electrical, Siemens Capital (Mentorgraphics), Cadence OrCAD)
    • Studio Design Applications for modeling (Autodesk Alias, Dassault ICEM Surf) and visualization (Autodesk VRED, Keyshot, Dassault Deltagen)
    • Systems Modeling and Requirements (Cameo Magic Cyber Systems Engineer, MATLAB, Simulink, EB Tresos, Jama, 3DX TRM, AutoSAR)
    • CAE simulation (LS-DYNA, ANSYS Fluent/Mechanical/Optical/Electromagnetics, Altair Optistruct/Hypermesh, BETA ANSA, Hexagon MSC, GT-SUITE, Siemens Simcenter 3D, Dassault SIMULIA)
  • Software Asset Management
    • Maximize our usage of purchased software tools through a combination of reviewing utilization metrics, managing license assignments and forecasting future requirements
    • Manage commercial relationships and support communication with software vendors
    • Engage in negotiation and renewal of engineering software tools
    • Review new vendor compliance with Lucid IT Security and Legal standards
  • Collaboration
    • Align with Vehicle Engineering and Digital / Software teams around tool capabilities and proposed solutions to meet Lucid program timelines
    • Collaborate with IT Client Engineering to automate software deployments and provide new software Self Service options to Lucid users
    • Work with Lucid Indirect Purchasing on software contract and renewal negotiations
  • HPC (High Performance Computing)
    • Manage HPC hardware expansion and upgrades, data retention policies and maintenance windows for Lucid’s on-premise and cloud HPC infrastructure
    • Collaborate with 3rd party HPC integrator to enable and troubleshoot HPC job submission issues
    • Improve compute resource efficiency for CAE Simulation teams by assessing new software/AI tools and next generation CPU and GPU hardware
    • Align with IT Infrastructure teams to support and grow the HPC in Lucid’s data centers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering tools support or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering tools and systems (e.g., PLM, MCAD, ECAD, simulation or system design software).
    • Working knowledge of the 3DExperience platform and management of roles, CATSettings, CAT Environments, DSLS licensing, user creation and security context.
    • Good understanding of the 3DExperience data model and proficiency with MQL is a plus
    • Working knowledge of CAE simulation tools from ANSYS (Fluent, Mechanical, Electronics, LS-DYNA), Altair (Hyperworks, Optistruct, Hyperview, Simsolid, Inspire), GT-SUITES or similar.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to empathize with customers and provide effective solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Linux server environments, scripting and automations are a plus.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$112,000$140,000 USD
