This role is ideal for someone with a logistics, supply chain, or IT background who understands SAP data management and process optimization in an automotive manufacturing environment. It requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving, and hands-on experience in trailer yard operations. 

What you’ll do

A Process Optimization and SAP Reference Data Management Specialist in a Trailer Yard within the OEM Auto Manufacturing Industry plays a critical role in streamlining logistics, improving efficiency, and managing reference data in SAP to ensure smooth operations. Here’s a breakdown of their role, job requirements, and necessary experience/education: 

Role & Responsibilities: 

  • Process Optimization:
    • Analyze and improve trailer yard operations, reducing bottlenecks and increasing efficiency. 
    • Implement best practices for tracking, scheduling, and dispatching trailers. 
    • Work closely with logistics, production, and IT teams to integrate process improvements. 
    • Use Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to eliminate waste and enhance workflow. 
    • Monitor KPIs and generate reports on yard operations. 
    • Support automation and digital transformation projects within the yard. 
  • SAP Reference Data Management:
    • Maintain and manage SAP master data related to trailer yard operations. 
    • Ensure accurate and up-to-date reference data for shipments, trailer movements, and vendor details. 
    • Work with IT and SAP teams to troubleshoot data inconsistencies. 
    • Develop and implement data governance policies to maintain data integrity. 
    • Provide training and support to end-users regarding SAP reference data processes. 
  • Collaboration & Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and OEM manufacturing requirements. 
    • Work with supply chain, production, and warehouse teams to align data and process flows. 
    • Assist in audits and regulatory reporting related to logistics and data management. 
    • Liaise with third-party logistics providers and carriers to enhance data integration. 

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina. 
  • The responsibilities of this role require daily attendance in shift with in-person meetings and events regularly. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in process optimization, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in an OEM auto manufacturing environment. 
  • 3 to 5 Years of Proven Experience in SAP (ERP, EWM, or Yard Management Systems) for managing reference data. 
  • Hands-on experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies in a logistics setting. 
  • Experience working with trailer yard management software (TMS/YMS). 
  • Familiarity with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) for logistics data integration. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of implementing process improvements. 
  • Education: 
    • (Highly Preferred) Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. 
    • A Master’s degree (MBA, Operations, or Supply Chain) is preferred but not required. 
    • Certifications in SAP (MM, WM, or YMS), Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt), or APICS (CSCP/CPIM) are highly desirable. 
  • Skills & Tools: 
    • SAP ERP, SAP MM, SAP EWM, or SAP YMS for reference data management. 
    • Power BI, Tableau, or Excel for data analysis and reporting. 
    • SQL or Python (optional) for data analytics. 
    • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $90,000.00 - $110,000.00
