Job Description

Albemarle is hiring for a Regional HR Partner Lead. This position is located in Shanghai China.

As a Regional HR Partner Lead, you will play a vital role in driving the strategic and transformational HR agenda to support sustainable business growth and innovation in your country/region. In this role, you will partner with regional leadership in aligning business plans with HR strategies, enhance productivity initiatives, and oversee regional HR processes, ensure high levels of employee engagement and initiatives, and act as first contact for senior country leadership. While you will play a critical role in coaching and supporting senior leaders, your focus will remain on strategic, high-impact initiatives as you leverage HR frameworks and tools ensure a consistent and high-impact approach across the organization.

What You Will Do

Strategy & Planning

  • Actively collaborate as part of regional leadership, providing insights and input into business planning and ensuring alignment between HR and business objectives.
  • Lead transformation initiatives within the region, ensuring implementation of organizational changes and HR strategies.
  • Design and restructure regional operations, collaborating with Strategic HR Business Partners.
  • Facilitate regional total reward decisions ensuring alignment with company policies and market practices.

Monitoring & Control

  • Translate and implement local and country specific HR processes, adapting them to meet local needs while following organizational guidelines.
  • Drive regional productivity initiatives, partnering with leaders to meet business objective and foster continuous improvement.
  • Manage the salary review process for regional clients, leveraging data to inform decisions.

People & Organization

  • Coach regional functional/unit leaders, supporting them in developing their leadership skills and coaching capabilities within their teams.  
  • Oversee the HR Partner pool for the region, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet local demands and develop HR capabilities.
  • Actively support senior talent recruitment efforts within the region, collaboration with Talent Attraction to attract and secure high caliber candidates.
  • Identify skill gaps within the region and assess training needs to align workforce capabilities with business needs.

Labor Relations

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for plant leadership on labor relations matters, while HR Partners provide support to general employees.
  • Conduct and oversee complex investigations on-site as required, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Act as a liaison with union representatives, fostering constructive relationships and working toward mutually beneficial agreements.

  • Relationship Management: Skilled in building trust and influencing senior leaders; navigating complex organizational dynamics.
  • Change Management: Ability to lead change and manage resistance across various levels in the organization, fostering alignment and engagement during transformation efforts.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to leverage data analytics to inform regional salary reviews, productivity agendas, and workforce planning decisions, using insights to drive HR strategy.
  • Coaching & Development: Skilled in coaching leaders, enhancing their ability to lead and develop their teams effectively.
  • Labor Relations & Conflict Resolution: Expertise in managing labor relations and resolving conflicts, ensuring productive interactions with union representatives and conducting complex on-site investigations when necessary.
  • Operational Efficiency: Ability to streamline processes, implement HR best practices efficiently, and drive productivity by translating organizational guidelines into effective local and regional practices.
