The Opportunity
InCharge Energy is offering a DoD SkillBridge Internship opportunity for transitioning service members to join our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) team as an Electrical Technician Intern. This role is part of our national initiative to expand EV charging infrastructure and provide high-impact training and career pathways for military veterans entering the civilian workforce.
This internship allows you to gain hands-on experience in a fast-growing clean energy sector. You will be trained to install, troubleshoot, and maintain electric vehicle service equipment (EVSE) while supporting field service and construction operations. This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical background in real-world settings and build a foundation for a civilian career with InCharge Energy.
What You’ll Do
Install electrical infrastructure including conduit runs, wiring, and panels for EVSE
Commission Level 2 and Level 3 EV chargers to ensure operational readiness
Support trenching, site prep, and related civil work as needed
Diagnose and repair issues in EV charging systems under supervision
Perform scheduled maintenance and upgrades to ensure charger functionality
Assist with coordination of subcontractors, material deliveries, and project timelines
Document all field activities in project software (Procore, Field Lightning, etc.)
Participate in team updates and performance reviews during the internship
Adhere strictly to OSHA safety guidelines and company safety policies
Participate in training programs, including EVITP certification where applicable
Promote a safety-first mindset and use proper PPE at all times
Represent InCharge Energy with professionalism at client job sites
Perform other related duties as assigned by EPC Operations Management
Your Experience and Capabilities
Active-duty U.S. military member eligible for SkillBridge (within 180 days of separation)
Command approval to participate in a SkillBridge Internship
Electrical, mechanical, or technical background from military experience
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures
Self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Familiarity with tools, test equipment, and mobile/tablet-based reporting a plus
Ability to travel regionally for job site assignments (no overtime)
Good driving record and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
Physical and Environmental Demands
Include but are not limited to: lifting, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, working from ladders, confined quarters, extreme temperatures, excessive noise, and high-voltage environments.
Important Note:
During the DoD SkillBridge program, service members continue to receive their military pay and benefits. They are not paid by the civilian employer during the internship, in accordance with guidance from the U.S. Department of the Interior (doi.gov).
US Hourly Range (Post-SkillBridge Opportunity)
$35 – $38 USD Upon successful completion, participants may be eligible for full-time employment at the stated range.
