Summary of Position
A Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairing production equipment as required, while working with the senior members of the team to complete electrical and mechanical projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventative/predictive maintenance to all production equipment as required.
- Work side-by-side with experienced technician during equipment repair and learn smart/safe work practices.
- Complete small electrical and mechanical projects based on direction given from Team Lead/ Supervisor
- Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies, procedures, and regulations at all times.
- Ensure compliance of all Company policies
- Maintain personal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and recommend measures to improve health and safety.
- Work within a team environment and interact with all areas of production effectively.
- Repair and replace electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic and electronic components such as motors, contractors, relays, timers, types of switches, PLCs, light curtains, motor controls and valves under direction of Team Lead/ Supervisor
- Recognize and diagnose faults on electrical equipment or systems, which may involve complex interlocking, interrelated circuits, integrated systems and complex sequencing.
- Examine, install, replace and repair electronic wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
- Maintain production equipment to maximize operating performance and assist with maintaining electrical spare parts’ inventory levels.
- Perform repairs on equipment to restore them to proper and safe work conditions under direction of Team Lead/ Supervisor
- Perform installation, set up, modification and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements.
- Read electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams, basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance
- Ensure production schedule is not jeopardized due to machine breakdown, or unsafe operating conditions and inform Team Lead/Supervisor about changes in electric circuits and update original diagrams.
- Always follow LOCK OUT/TAG OUT procedure on unsafe machines/machines being serviced.
- Adhere to work orders, preventive/predictive maintenance systems by filling in required forms,
