The opportunity

Power transformers are the backbone of our electrical power grid.  It is expected that electricity demand will significantly increase in the next 20 years.  This will require vast numbers of new power transformers and require existing aged transformers to remain in service for 25 years or longer through large life extension projects.  We are looking for a strong candidate with a field or engineering background in transformer service that can develop solutions for customer transformer life extension and new transformer installations and prepare complete, detailed technical proposals.

How you'll make an impact

Main responsibility is to prepare transformer service technical proposals.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare quotations for transformer field service
• Estimate costs for quotations
• Work with vendors or contactors as needed for costing
• Develop technical solutions for complex transformer issues
• Be able to discuss technical details with customers and explain solutions
• Attend customer site meetings to view transformers
• Risk review preparation for large proposals
• Review meetings with sales and management

Location is preferably near our Stoney Creek, Ontario office but this can be a work from home position anywhere in Canada.

This position will require the ability to occasionally travel within Canada to visit customer sites.

Your background

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (Electrical) or Engineering Technologist
• 5 + years of hands-on experience in transformer service, manufacturing or testing
• Excellent written communication skills
• Goal-oriented and self-starter attitude
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
