AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Senior Engineering Manager with exceptional leadership, team development, and technical expertise to oversee the growth, development, and technical excellence of our multi-disciplinary architectural engineering practices (structural, mechanical, and electrical), with a specialized emphasis on structural engineering, embodied carbon reduction, mass timber design, and design-build delivery. Reporting through the Denver, Colorado office, this role supports a remote or hybrid work arrangement, with periodic travel to Denver and occasional visits to project sites required.

Job Responsibilities
AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead the strategic growth and technical advancement of our engineering teams. Key responsibilities include:
Technical Leadership in Structural Engineering & Sustainability:
- Provide expert guidance in structural engineering, with a focus on mass timber design and embodied carbon analysis, integrating sustainable practices into project workflows.
- Lead technical reviews, conceptual designs, and compliance with regulatory, company, and sustainability standards (e.g., net-zero goals).
- Support design-build projects by bridging design and construction phases, enhancing efficiency and innovation.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Mentor and develop people-managers and engineers across structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
- Conduct performance reviews, 1:1s, and skip-level meetings to build high-performing, cohesive teams across multiple offices.
- Recruit and onboard talent to support growth in sustainable design and design-build capabilities.
Multi-Office Coordination & Connectivity:
- Oversee resources, schedules, and workflows across geographically dispersed teams, eroding silos between offices and practices.
- Implement collaboration tools and processes to align multi-disciplinary efforts on project goals.
Business Growth & Strategy:
- Drive business development by identifying opportunities in sustainable construction (e.g., mass timber projects) and securing high-value contracts.
- Collaborate with discipline and business line leaders to develop proposals, scopes, and cost estimates, targeting clients in Federal, Sports, Civic, and Science and Technology sectors.
- Act as a trusted client interface, maintaining strong relationships and representing AECOM’s vision for a better world.
Innovation & Problem-Solving:
- Champion the adoption of advanced techniques, such as mass timber and embodied carbon tracking tools, to position AECOM as a leader in sustainable design.
- Identify challenges, mobilize supporting resources, and close action items to deliver unique solutions for complex projects.
Project Oversight & Quality Control:
- Manage scope, budgets, and contracts for discipline-specific requirements, coordinating with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and technology teams.
- Oversee project schedules, risk registers, and quality assurance, ensuring technical and financial success.
- Perform detailed structural design (e.g., drawings, specifications, reports) when needed to support team efforts.
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute strategies to support regional growth initiatives, reporting periodically to internal regional and Buildings + Places management.
- Provide high-level communication to senior leaders within AECOM and client organizations, influencing decisions on technical and business matters.
