We are now looking for a HSES Manager (m/f/d) to join our team in Germany, Hamburg.


About the role: 
 

The HSES Manager (m/f/d) oversees the HSES (Health, Safety, Environment, and Security) management systems, processes, and practices within a cutting-edge, digitally-focused global environment. As a subject matter expert in Health, Safety, and Environment, you will provide expert knowledge and guidance on compliance and best practices in these areas. 


Location: This position is based in Hamburg, Germany. We have a hybrid working model however during the onboarding phase we would expect a greater office presence. 


Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSES policies, processes, programs, and initiatives. 
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend preventive measures. 
  • Plan and execute internal HSES audits and coordinate external certification audits in line with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards. 
  • Design and deliver HSES training programs to enhance employee awareness and understanding of safety practices. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate HSES considerations into business operations, enhance performance, and share best practices. Drive actions to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of our solutions. 
  • Ensure compliance with HSES legislation for all legal entities operating globally. 
  • Lead HSES communications across the global network and the entire company. 
  • Continuously improve HSES activities and initiatives. 


Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent vocational experience. 
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience in a related field. 
  • Expertise of HSES Management systems and standards. 
  • Ideal candidates will have internal auditor certification (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards) or external auditor/lead auditor certification. 
  • Experience in occupational health and environmental law is essential. We appreciate the nuances of regional laws and regulations and expect someone to be able to gain appreciation and working knowledge of our various regions, 
  • Deep knowledge and experience of HSES disciplines, processes and standards. 
  • Expertise of relevant HSES tools and systems and their implementation to organisation. 
  • Pragmatic and entrepreneurial in attitude, focused on delivering results. 
  • Understanding easily various regulatory requirements and being able develop simplified company procedures and ways of working to comply. 
  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams and proven track record of aligning and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders in a large organisation. 
  • Exceptional organisational leadership skills, excellent influencing and communication skills (minimum in English) also virtually and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience in maritime industry and working in software business and digital services is appreciated. 
  • This role will require occasional travel. Outside critical incident support, we anticipate 5-6 business trips per year.
