Gambooza is a food-tech startup on a mission to fight food waste in institutional kitchens (schools, hospitals, care homes). Our AI solution uses repurposed smartphones and computer vision to detect what gets served, eaten, and wasted—turning real-world data into actionable insights on nutrition, sustainability, and cost reduction.
We’re looking for a Tech Lead (non-C-level) to take ownership of our technical development. You’ll work closely with the founding team and AI collaborators to evolve our MVP into a robust, scalable solution used by public and private institutions.
Lead the development and improvement of our computer vision pipeline and product infrastructure, from image capture to AI-driven analysis and reporting.
Define technical requirements, choose the right tools and technologies, and maintain a clean, scalable architecture.
Collaborate with external AI developers, data scientists, and cloud engineers to deploy trained models in real-world environments.
Manage and optimize our lightweight hardware system (smartphones + 3D-printed mounts) for efficient and reliable image capture.
Translate user feedback from pilot centers into technical improvements that enhance usability and performance.
Ensure secure and reliable data flows from edge devices to cloud services, complying with privacy and data standards.
Build and maintain APIs and dashboards for clients and internal operations teams.
Document processes clearly to enable scale and handover.
Promote a lean, test-and-learn approach to product development.
Contribute to or lead future team growth and hiring in the tech area.
Experience leading the technical development of a digital product, ideally involving AI, computer vision, or edge computing.
Strong familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably GCP), including tools like Vertex AI, Compute Engine, and Cloud Storage.
Comfortable working with or managing image datasets, training loops, APIs, and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
Solid understanding of hardware–software integration, especially with mobile devices or IoT-style setups.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to break down complexity into actionable steps.
Strong communication skills, able to collaborate across teams and explain tech decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
Fluent in Spanish and English.
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent hands-on experience.
