Lead Fullstack Engineer (5+ years relevant experience)

  • Contract-to-hire

  • $75-85+/hr (40 hrs/week)

  • Strong preference for Colorado, US-based candidates

We’re looking to expand our team with a senior full-stack engineer, experienced in leading the development of products with a cross-functional team. This role's responsibilities would include software development as an individual contributor, as well as time spent as the technical lead and business liaison for a product development team. Our ideal candidate is very comfortable working in a solution-oriented mode, and is happy to communicate directly with partners/clients (they’re all lovely folks!).

Current projects include mapping out residential data to support municipal electrification programs, crunching data to identify energy-intensive small businesses in South America, simulating home energy use, and creating automated systems that leverage public Department of Energy tools such as ResStock and EnergyPlus.

Opportunity to convert to full-time staff after ~3 months if it’s a mutual fit.

Benefits:

  • “Mostly-remote”, or hybrid work (we like to get together once every week or two)

  • Hardware provided if needed

  • Upon conversion to full time:

    • Flexible schedules and untracked PTO

    • Bonus plan

    • Health, vision, dental coverage

    • Generous equity compensation plans

Skillset:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience building with modern full-stack technologies/frameworks such as Typescript, NestJS, React, Tailwind, etc. etc.

  • Experience building software solutions in AWS – particularly Lambdas, RDS, API-Gateway and data/analytics services like S3, SageMaker, Athena, etc.

  • Adept in solving cloud infrastructure challenges, managing CI/CD workflows, and establishing testing frameworks

  • Ability to collaborate with, and lead, teammates with varying sklillsets such as data scientists, analysts, UX designers, etc.

  • A strong bias towards simple software, and “buy” vs. “build”

  • Willing and able to make the choice to use low/no-code tools to stand up MVPs, when necessary

  • Fearlessness and flexibility when diving into new technologies and languages

  • Passion for the energy and climate tech industry

Nice-to-haves:

  • Knowledge of the energy/utility industry

  • Experience using "off-the-shelf" AI/ML tools offered by AWS/GCP/Azure to quickly integrate functionality such as OCR, speech-to-text, image classification, etc.

  • Data engineering experience across batch and streaming needs

  • Experience using Python both for data analysis and back-end service development

  • Adept in digging into data with SQL, Pandas/Polars, or whatever tools necessary to quickly debug/examine datasets

That said – we believe that aptitude, positive attitude, and fearlessness trumps any particular “skillset checkbox". If you think you’d be a good fit, and have some relevant experience to share, don’t hesitate to reach out!
