Job Description 


Position: Electrical Engineer II

 

Location: Remote

 

Overview: As an Electrical Engineer, you will provide electrical design and engineering support for all electrical aspects of our utility-scale solar energy projects. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, cost-efficient designs in support of our power plants.

 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Direct and manage the work performed by electrical engineering consultants including technical review and comment to design. 
  • Work with and manage consultants for design/construction.  Ensure documentation is accurate and complete. 
  • Participate in constructability reviews and analyze options to optimize cost and schedule. 
  • Ensure engineering work meets applicable codes, industry standards and safety practices. 
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents related to engineering and construction, including but not limited to one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams and wiring diagrams.  
  • Review technical specifications for PV plant electrical equipment. 
  • Review and evaluate vendor drawing submittals. 
  • Ability to prepare single line diagrams, calculations, specifications, equipment layout, and plan drawings.   
  • Ensure the production of quality electrical engineering plans and specifications, while ensuring compliance with product and industry requirements and standards. 
  • Lead or participate in project meetings and conference calls. 
  • Conduct site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence efforts. (25% Travel) 


Qualifications:


Education: 
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Professional Engineering License desirable.


Required Skills: 

  • Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others. 
  • Communicates effectively and responsibly with internal stake holders and vendors and partners.  
  • Prioritizes work to meet project goals including deadlines, cost targets and project schedules. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Creative thinker with the ability to make decisions and execute effectively. 
  • Good time management skills and demonstrated efficiency in providing engineering support on multiple concurrent projects. 
  • Knowledge of the ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NEC and other industry codes, specifications and standards.  
  • Comfortable presenting to and interacting with consultants, authorities with jurisdiction, and regulatory agencies. 


Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years of electrical design and engineering experience 
  • Experience in AC and DC System engineering and design for Large Scale Photovoltaic Power Generation. 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Power System Modeling Software and other discipline-related design programs desirable.
  • Experience and skills relating to Electrical Systems Analysis including Short Circuit, Load Flow, Protective Devise Coordination, Harmonic Analysis, and Arc Flash.  Knowledge of SKM/ETAP Software is preferred. 
  • Experience in PVSyst reports, solar plant DC array design, dc voltage drop, fuse sizing and cable sizing calculations.
  • Experience in reviewing 30/60/90/IFC design phases, responding to RFI’s and submittals. 
  • Prior experience in developing and reviewing technical specifications and design for power plants, including selection of power equipment. 
  • Familiarity with inverter technology. 
  • Knowledgeable and familiar with medium voltage electrical equipment design and operations desirable. 
  • Experience in High Voltage/Substations a plus.
