AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to provide technical expertise on a wide range of surface water engineering projects including but not limited to: stream/river restoration, hydrology/hydraulics, dams, levees, stormwater management, flood control, drainage, culverts, bridges, bank stabilization; fish passage design, and floodplain management. Water resources technical expertise is critical to success in this position as it will be applied to solve unique engineering challenges and provide technical training and coaching to peers and team members.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Lead Hydraulic and Hydrologic Design Projects
Oversee the design and analysis of stormwater management systems, flood control structures, drainage networks, and water conveyance systems using advanced modeling software and engineering principles.
Develop and Review Technical Plans and Specifications
Prepare, evaluate, and approve engineering drawings, reports, and specifications for water resources infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and project goals.
Coordinate with Multidisciplinary Teams
Collaborate with civil engineers, environmental scientists, planners, and regulatory agencies to integrate water resources solutions into broader infrastructure or land development projects.
Conduct Complex Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling
Utilize tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or MIKE FLOOD to simulate water flow, sediment transport, and floodplain mapping for both urban and rural environments.
Provide Technical Mentorship and Quality Assurance
Guide junior engineers, review design calculations and reports, and implement quality control procedures to uphold technical excellence and project delivery standards
