What You鈥檒l Do 

You will play a central role in developing and maintaining our SCED market modeling capabilities, providing core insights into transmission congestion, locational marginal pricing (LMP), and basis risk across key U.S. electricity markets. Your work will directly inform investment decisions, site selection, and operational strategies. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to source, clean, and validate complex ISO datasets required for market simulations. 
  • Standardize and document data ingestion processes to ensure reproducibility and consistency across modeling runs and time horizons. 
  • Design, calibrate, and execute SCED and production cost models (e.g., DAYZER) across ISOs such as ERCOT, PJM, and MISO 
  • Analyze LMP trends, transmission congestion, and market design dynamics to support development and commercial strategy 
  • Monitor regulatory and policy changes and assess their impact on dispatch, pricing, and project economics 
  • Translate regulatory and operational scenarios into quantitative forecasts and model inputs 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders鈥攄evelopment, finance, revenue, and trading teams鈥攖o align modeling insights with business objectives 
  • Maintain and enhance data pipelines and forecasting tools used for medium- and long-term congestion risk assessment 
  • Represent CCR in ISO/RTO meetings and industry working groups 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Economics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field; advanced degree a plus 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in power market fundamentals, production cost modeling, or nodal market simulation 
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as DAYZER, PLEXOS, PROMOD, or UPLAN 
  • Familiarity with ISO/RTO market structures and LMP price formation mechanisms 
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and model automation 
  • Strong analytical communication skills鈥攁ble to distill complex modeling outputs into insights for technical and commercial audiences 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience with load flow and contingency analysis tools (e.g., PSS/E, TARA, PowerWorld) 
  • Experience in coordinating or managing consultants and external modeling resources

 

Locations: The preferred location for this role is one of our offices, ideally in Chicago, IL. We also have offices in Durham, NC; Washington, DC; Los Angeles, CA; and San Francisco, CA. Additionally, we are open to candidates based remotely in the Austin, TX area.
