Job Description
JOB PURPOSE & DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a motivated Junior Network Engineer to join our newly created global network services team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and gain hands-on experience in managing and supporting our global network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of network engineering, including basic knowledge of Checkpoint firewalls, Meraki platforms, and network automation.
The primary focus will be on assisting with the operational management of our network, including monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring high availability and reliability. The candidate will also support network projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and assist in the implementation of new technologies and infrastructure solutions. Additionally, they will work closely with senior engineers and regional networking teams across the world to ensure cohesive and efficient global network operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assist in managing and optimizing global network infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity and robust performance.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.
- Support network projects, including upgrades, expansions, and new deployments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network strategies with business goals.
- Assist in maintaining and managing Checkpoint firewalls and other security solutions.
- Assist in maintaining and managing Meraki platforms and other networking solutions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of network automation solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Develop DevNet skills to automate network tasks and streamline operations.
- Document network configurations and implementation tasks.
- Support and implement change management strategies.
- Share knowledge, discoveries, ideas, challenges, and solutions with peers, managers, and executives.
- Provide emergency operational support outside office hours when necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Certificates
- College degree in Computer Science, network administration, system administration or equivalent.
- CCNA certification is an asset.
- Checkpoint CCSA certification is an asset.
- Possession of any ITIL certifications is an asset..
Technical Skills & Experience
- 0-2 years of experience in network engineering.
- Understanding of network protocols and standards: IP and Ethernet technologies, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), and service quality parameters (QoS).
- Foundational knowledge and hands-on experience with Checkpoint firewalls and Meraki platforms.
- Knowledge of the telecommunication industry in the following areas: LAN, WAN, VPN, IP Telephony, network security (firewall, web filtering, IPS/IDS), wireless technology, and load balancing.
- Basic expertise in network automation and DevNet skills is an asset.
- Experience with network observability solutions and performance optimization.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with network security, including IPS/IDS, web filtering, and VPN is an asset.
- Experience with industrial networking is an asset (IT/OT).
- Experience with cloud networking and virtualization technologies is an asset.
- Exposure to an international and diverse culture is an asset.
- Experience in wireless network design and operation is an asset.
