ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and organized Sr. Associate or Manager, Development Strategy to work closely with the Chief Development Officer (“CDO”) to advance and improve the development program at Avantus. This role requires advanced knowledge of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage development, superior communication, analytical, and presentation skills, and comfort working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
Reporting to the CDO, the successful candidate should be highly organized, responsive, thoughtful, self-directed, and committed to producing a high level of quality of work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Aid CDO with creation and management of greenfield development strategy and execution
Assists or independently manage research, collaboration, and writing reports or PowerPoint slides regarding complex transmission, permitting, policy, project development, M&A topics.
Support CDO to prepare financial analysis to enable decisions on projects and the portfolio.
Participates in budget preparation and administration, monitors and controls expenditures.
Aid CDO and team to create and manage annual KPIs and Business Plan targets.
Performs and manages complex and sensitive professional planning projects, research and analysis.
Support development of projects by evaluating project progress, viability, regulatory impact, transmission impact, financial returns, and risk assessments
Support development of projects by refining prospecting tool that provides production and LCOE models for early-stage projects
Collaborate with CDO and team to optimize projects and assumptions to improve financial returns
Support CDO and team with managing market and competitive analyses
Track project progress and stage gate process
Actively collaborate with team to create and manage development processes to enhance effectiveness and transparency of Development team members
Take part in critical development decisions that materially impact projects and business
Collaborate with team to perform quantitative and qualitative analyses to influence decision making
Participate in preparation for Risk Committee and Investment Committee approvals
In partnership with the CDO, convenes and facilitates teams on priority strategies and issues.
Assist with strategic development initiatives or special projects as needed.
Organizes, leads, and helps execute company projects that may fall outside the scope of regular duties.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the solar and battery energy storage industry, with knowledge of project development, transmission, financial modeling, regulatory affairs, and power market dynamics.
Must be innovative, detail-oriented, experienced in highly visible projects.
Capable of managing multiple, high-priority assignments.
Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships with staff, officials and stakeholders and to resolve complaints.
Strong analytical skills to interpret research data for reports and apply mathematic techniques in practical situations.
Reading comprehension to understand technical and legal materials.
Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
Ability to provide effective supervision and staff management.
Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage and conduct in-person and virtual public participation activities, meetings and hearings.

The base salary range for this full-time position is listed below (plus bonus and benefits). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in California. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the applicable location during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus and benefits.
Pay Range
$123,220—$144,965 USD
