Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer or Computer Scientist for a Manager level role within our Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in Menlo Park, CA. In this role, you will work as part of a team to help our clients solve challenging technical problems which are often urgent, high profile, and multi-disciplinary. You will be involved in a variety of projects with applications such as consumer electronics, medical devices, electrical infrastructure, technical litigation support, and others. You will conduct investigative analyses such as software code reviews, product teardowns, reverse engineering, safety assessments, system design reviews, modeling and simulation, and failure analysis. You will have the opportunity to define and shape your individual consulting practice based on your skills and interests.
You will be responsible for
Performing engineering and computer science analyses related to ongoing Exponent work
Writing bespoke software for Exponent-internal analyses as well as external prototypes
Investigating the design of various technologies through software code reviews, reverse engineering, and product teardowns
Presenting technical results and solutions to a diverse audience through verbal, written, and interactive communication
Preparing technical proposals to capture new business
Performing reliability and failure analysis related to electrical/electronic systems, computer systems, and computer networks
Participating at every stage of a project lifecycle: scoping and proposals; design of experiments; conducting and supervising tests; collecting and analyzing data; preparing reports; and presenting to clients
You will have the following skills and qualifications
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field such as Physics
5-10 years of relevant experience in industry after completing a Ph.D.
Technical focus in electronics, software, electromagnetics, power electronics, batteries, or related cross-disciplinary areas
An understanding of investigative analysis for troubleshooting technical issues and solving technical challenges
Experience with electrical test equipment, conducting electrical tests, and troubleshooting
Ability to convey technical conclusions to both technical and non-technical staff in engineering, business, and industry
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-starter, interested in learning about new topics

Compensation
Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
The base salary range for this position is [$- $] depending on experience and capabilities, which will be assessed during the interview process.
Salary Range
USD $166,400.00 - USD $223,600.00 /Yr.
