Position Specific Description


NextEra Energy is seeking a highly skilled and innovative individual to join their Power Generation Division (PGD) team as a Senior Asset Management Systems Engineer. NextEra Energy, Inc. is one of the largest and highest-performing power generation companies in the nation, and their PGD team is responsible for a diverse generation portfolio of over 72 GW.

This role requires deep expertise in Maximo, alongside a comprehensive understanding of asset management principles, functional process design, and agile methodologies. The selected candidate will be instrumental in driving efficiency, optimization, and strategic enhancements within our asset management operations, ensuring seamless integration with other pivotal systems.

 

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills:

· Demonstrated proficiency in Maximo application knowledge, including configuration to meet business-specific needs. In-depth understanding of Maximo applications, such as Assets, Work Orders, Service Requests, Preventative Maintenance, Planning, Inventory, and Contracts.

· Lead the full lifecycle of NextEra Energy's enterprise asset management system enhancements, overseeing implementation, monitoring, maintenance, development, testing, upgrades, and support.

· Participates in program increment and sprint planning meetings, manage product backlog, prioritize features based on business value, customer impact, and ensure alignment with stakeholders.

· Identify potential risks associated with asset management operations, support the prioritization and mitigation of technical debt to ensure long-term maintainability, effectively manage change and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

· Collaborate with business stakeholders to review, understand, and map business processes, ensuring alignment with system functionality to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Drive improvements by integrating stakeholder insights into process design and optimization efforts.

· Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams and external partners to enhance asset management performance. Cultivate innovation by utilizing out of the box applications to streamline operations and support data-driven decision-making.

· Oversee business unit wide communication and documentation to facilitate the seamless integration of Maximo with ERP, valuation and scheduling systems, and predictive analytics platforms, ensuring data integrity and optimizing operational efficiency across the power generation landscape.

· Committed to understanding and meeting the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders, effectively gathering and applying their input to enhance products and services. Builds trust and maintains strong relationships.

· Adheres to established procedures for change management and implementation, ensuring thorough preparation of technical and functional documentation and overseeing the implementation process efficiently.

· Facilitate the seamless transition of new site and plant equipment from NextEra Energy's Engineering & Construction team to the Power Generation Division. Collaborate closely with the Renewable Operations Integration team to ensure all assets are fully integrated into PGD systems.

 

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering

· Minimum 5+ years experience with Maximo or similar enterprise asset management systems

· Expertise in SQL, Power BI, and industry-specific analytics tools

· Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to complex interpersonal, technical, and administrative problems

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with coworkers at all organizational levels, including management

· Proficiency of PC software applications to include Microsoft Office or other related software applications

· Experience with Agile project management processes and tools

 

Preferred Qualifications

· Quality Certification – Green Belt Certification

· Certification in Agile methodologies and/or Product Ownership standards (e.g., SAFe, Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO))

· Ability to interpret engineering documentation and technical drawings

· Experience in risk assessment, change management, and implementing standards (e.g. Management of Change, PROSCI, ADKAR)

· Proficiency with programming languages such as Python and experience using IDEs for software development

· Strong communication skills and ability to drive results through strategic vision and effective stakeholder management
