PowerHouse Texas (501c3) equips Texas energy policy leaders through programs such as the Policy Fellowship, Energy Policy Advisory Council, Texas Energy Tour, Innovation Forums, and Energy Academy and creates opportunities for pragmatic, bipartisan dialogue grounded in real-world expertise.<h3>Position Overview</h3>PowerHouse Texas seeks an Events Specialist to join our small, dynamic team and lead the design, coordination and execution of events that shape Texas’s energy policy conversations.This 6-month, full-time contract role (with potential for extension) will report to the Program Director. You’re skilled at turning complex ideas into polished, well-run experiences that feel seamless to attendees — and you build genuine, positive relationships with everyone involved, from vendors and speakers to legislators and staff.Location: Austin, Texas with regular in-person support for events and meetings in Austin, plus statewide travel for programs and tours<h4></h4><h4>Responsibilities</h4>Program Development &amp; Management<ul><li>Lead end-to-end planning and execution of PowerHouse Texas events — including venue management, vendor coordination, catering, A/V setup, materials, signage, and guest communication.</li><li>Collaborate with the Program Director to design event flow, agendas and audience experience.</li><li>Develop and manage event timelines, checklists and budgets, ensuring deadlines are met and details are tracked.</li><li>Coordinate participant and speaker logistics, including invitations, confirmations, travel and day-of management.</li><li>Serve as on-site lead for event setup, execution, and breakdown — ensuring a smooth and professional experience.</li><li>Support post-event follow-up, including attendee communications, materials distribution, and lessons-learned documentation.</li><li>Maintain organized systems for tracking vendors, contracts, expenses, and event metrics.</li><li>Contribute to the broader organizational culture as a collaborative, proactive team member.</li><li>Cultivate and maintain relationships with legislative offices, fellows, regulatory experts and industry partners.</li><li>Track program metrics and produce evaluation reports to inform growth and improvement.</li></ul><h4>Requirements</h4><h2></h2>Required:<ul><li>Demonstrated experience (3+ years) designing and implementing professional events, trainings, or workshops from start to finish.</li><li>Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines under pressure with strong attention to detail.</li><li>Exceptional people and communication skills — warm, clear, and organized in interactions with partners and vendors.</li><li>Strong logistical and operational judgment with a focus on quality and attendee experience.</li><li>Comfort working in a fast-moving, small-team environment with evolving needs.</li><li>Willingness to work in-person in Austin and support occasional evening events.</li><li></li></ul>Preferred:<ul><li>Familiarity with the Texas legislative environment or public policy spaces (energy knowledge a plus, not required).</li><li>Experience using tools for event/project management.</li><li>Background in nonprofit, education, or public affairs settings.</li></ul><h4>Benefits</h4><h2>Contract Details</h2><ul><li>Term: 6 months (extendable based on performance and funding).</li><li>Compensation: Equivalent to $60,000–$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.</li><li>Location: In-person in Austin, with some flexibility for hybrid work between events.</li><li>Travel covered for statewide events.</li></ul>
