This individual will be responsible for identifying and engaging organizations and research programs that can participate in the Initiative, serving as the central point of coordination between KCF, participating scientists, and institutional partners. The Manager will help define successful operational models, establish measures of success, and ensure that all participants remain aligned with DCI’s overall programmatic goals and outcomes.&nbsp;The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of climate and environmental science and policy, and the ability to engage effectively across diverse disciplines and institutions. The role requires exceptional organizational skills, diplomacy, and a solutions-oriented mindset. This is a dynamic position that combines scientific understanding, stakeholder coordination, and strategic program management.&nbsp;Responsibilities·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Identify and cultivate relationships with organizations, research groups, and institutions positioned to become grantees under the DCI.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Build and maintain a network of advisors, partner institutions, and allied organizations that can provide strategic input, technical guidance, and operational support to DCI.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Serve as the primary liaison between KCF, participating scientists, and institutional partners—facilitating coordination, scheduling, communications, and alignment across projects.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Advise on program design, grantmaking processes, success metrics, and evaluation of outcomes to ensure the DCI operates efficiently and transparently.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Manage the logistical flow of information between grantees and KCF, including progress tracking, documentation, and compliance with reporting requirements.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Work closely with the Development Director and Executive Director to align scientific coordination with fundraising and communications efforts.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Coordinate and motivate a complex network of independent scientists, research institutions, and funders—ensuring alignment, accountability, and shared commitment to DCI’s mission.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Support preparation of reports, presentations, and materials summarizing program outcomes and impacts.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Represent KCF and DCI in meetings, workshops, and external events.&nbsp;Skills and Qualifications·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Master’s degree required; Ph.D. preferred.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 7+ years of experience in research, nonprofit, or government settings.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Demonstrated experience in grantmaking, grant management, or research program administration.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Excellent written and oral communication skills.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Strong coordination, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Familiarity with environmental observation systems, data continuity, or climate science preferred.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Public service or multi-institutional project management experience desirable.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing complex partnerships and dynamic priorities.&nbsp;Hours: Part-time (20 hours/week). We anticipate that this position will evolve into a full-time role as additional funding permits.Rate: Up to $65/hour, dependent on experience.
