Assistant Lab Manager

Job Brief 

If the prospect of working in a dynamic laboratory environment with individuals dedicated to developing world-saving and life-changing technologies sounds exciting, this might just be the job for you. As an Assistant Lab Manager at Twelve, you will work closely with the EHS & Lab Manager and lab users to establish and maintain systems, policies, and programs to ensure smooth lab operation. You will work with lab technicians to provide hands-on support in managing chemical supplies, compressed gas systems, safety equipment, and preventative maintenance of specialized lab equipment. 

You will have opportunities to use your creativity to find and implement solutions to challenges in operations, site management, and safety. There is also the potential to grow into having people management responsibilities within this role. We are looking for someone that is driven, self-motivated, and enthusiastic about advancing their career in our rapidly expanding startup. 

What you will do 

• Take ownership in maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment by collaborating cross-functionally
• Manage lab vendors (PPE providers, lab equipment maintenance and calibration services)
• Perform preventative maintenance, calibration, and inspection of lab equipment
• Prepare chemical solutions for research teams
• Work with procurement teams to manage the inventory of lab consumables
• Support creation, implementation, and communication of lab policies
• Establish and execute systems to support general site management:
• Managing records for safety regulatory compliance
• Managing janitorial and maintenance vendors
• Interfacing with property management
• Coordinating on and off-site storage for equipment and consumables
• Managing employee site access and security systems
• Support the Environmental, Health, and Safety program by:
• Managing communication with equipment and process users
• Coordinating and/or tracking execution of safety action items
• Researching solutions to improve lab safety

• Previous experience in a laboratory setting is preferred but not required
• Some people management experience is preferred
