Job Description  Advanced Energy United's MidAtlantic Policy Team is seeking a summer policy intern to support legislative and regulatory strategy in Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This internship offers hands-on experience in state energy policy, stakeholder engagement, and coalition management during a critical period for clean energy advocacy in the MidAtlantic.  Working directly with our Managing Director for the MidAtlantic, the intern will contribute to active legislative campaigns, regulatory proceedings, and stakeholder coordination efforts across both states. This role is ideal for students interested in state policy, energy markets, government relations, or public interest advocacy who want to see how policy gets made—and who aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves and help make it happen.   Key Responsibilities <ul style=""><li style="font-size:12pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Legislative Research &amp; Analysis: Track and analyze energy-related legislation in Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania; prepare bill summaries, policy memos, and legislative tracking reports; conduct research on policy models from other states and best practices in transmission, distributed energy resources, and grid modernization.  </li></ul><ul style=""><li style="font-size:12pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Stakeholder Coordination Support: Assist with coalition partner communications and meeting coordination; maintain stakeholder contact lists and engagement tracking; prepare briefing materials for legislators, regulators, and coalition partners; support member company outreach and education efforts.  </li></ul><ul style=""><li style="font-size:12pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Regulatory Proceedings &amp; Comment Development: Monitor Maryland Public Service Commission (MD PSC), New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJ BPU), and Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PA PUC) dockets; assist in drafting regulatory comments and testimony; research technical issues related to utility programs, grid planning, and energy markets.  </li></ul><ul style=""><li style="font-size:12pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Event Planning &amp; Communications: Support planning and logistics for stakeholder briefings, roundtables, and legislative education events; draft talking points, one-pagers, and fact sheets for policymakers and media; maintain internal project tracking systems and meeting notes; coordinate with communications team on press materials and social media content.  </li></ul>Interns will work a hybrid schedule and therefore must be located in the DC, MD, VA area for the summer, a commutable distance to our DC office. A final project will be due from each intern and presented to the organization at the end of the program.  Required Skills  Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)    Preferred Skills  Detail-oriented; intellectually curious; strong written and oral communication skills; and interest in advanced energy and/or public policy career   Special Application Instructions   To be considered for this internship, please submit a resume and cover letter expressing why this opportunity and organization interests you.         Dates: 6/15-8/14     Location: DC  (Hybrid)  Hours: 40 hours per week     Compensation: $18.00/hr   Advanced Energy United is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in hiring or employment on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, sex, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local laws, regulations or ordinances.
