We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location. Scope of Job:Develop engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the company SCADA system used for electric grid monitoring, protection and control. <h2>Responsibilities</h2>Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Act as an expert in the work group; train and mentor SCADA specialists and engineers.</li> <li>Develop complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.</li> <li>Design the SCADA portion of projects, including network topologies, RTU configurations, I&amp;C device selection, control narrative development, and point list implementation per stakeholder requirements.</li> <li>Coordinate project teams, vendors, and stakeholders to drive design, development, procurement, assembly, verification, commissioning, and sustainment of plant SCADA systems.</li> <li>Work with stakeholders to ensure the remote command, control, communications, and cybersecurity requirements are satisfied by plant SCADA systems.</li> <li>Support plant modeling, protection scheme development, and AHJ compliance efforts.</li> <li>Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs.</li> <li>Deliver on commitments and manage outside engineering services to accomplish the assigned work.</li> <li>Maintain project timeliness and budgets.</li> <li>Analyze, create, document, and refine SCADA engineering methods.</li> <li>Provide hands-on commissioning or troubleshooting support on site, as needed. (Travel to site.)</li> <li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul>Supervision of Others: NoneWorking Conditions: 80% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 20% of time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors’ and/or internal customers’ sites in additional to attending various conferences and meetings.<h2>Qualifications</h2><h2>Qualifications:</h2>Education/Experience:<ul> <li>Requires bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and a minimum of recommended 8 years of directly related experience in engineering related field.</li> <li>Expert level knowledge of electric grid energy management systems or similar for the purpose of configuring and engineering SCADA systems used for electric grid monitoring, protection and control.</li> <li>Expert knowledge and application of principles in area of SCADA engineering, especially controls theory, PLC/RTAC programming, and computer networking.</li> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.</li> <li>Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.</li> <li>Ability to provide timely assessments with limited information and/or assumptions.</li> <li>Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.</li></ul>Preferences:<ul> <li>Engineering experience specific to industrial power systems or electric utility power systems.</li> <li>Experience with DAQ (Data Acquisition), RTU (Remote Terminal Unit), IED (Intelligent Electronic Device), RTAC (Real-Time Automation Controller) and PLC technologies.</li> <li>Experience with common industrial communications protocols, such as DNP3, Modbus, OPC-UA, etc.</li> <li>Experience with IT/OT system fundamentals, Windows Server, Linux, virtualization, etc.</li> <li>Experience with scripting in PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.</li> <li>Experience with IEC-61850. </li> <li>Experience with IEEE-2800.</li> <li>Experience with NERC CIP.</li></ul> Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:<ul> <li>Working knowledge of common SCADA &amp; EMS architectures and platforms.</li> <li>Working knowledge of computer networking, TCP/IP, firewalls/routing, Ethernet, serial bus, etc.</li> <li>Working knowledge of power system fundamentals, such active vs. reactive power, power factor, AVR/PFR/AGC control modes, H/L V/F RTH, closed-loop PID, etc.</li> <li>Fundamental understanding of fiber transport and microwave/wireless system technologies.</li> <li>Understanding of Company's business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices.</li> <li>Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations and the National Electric Codes.</li></ul>
