We operate as an idea meritocracy in which the best ideas change the company’s direction on a regular basis. </p>About the Job<p>Our core technology is the node, a device that produces energy in the ocean’s harshest conditions for years at a time without human maintenance or intervention. </p><p>Once our nodes leave the manufacturing facility, they must be deployed, operated, and maintained safely and reliably across vast oceanic regions—all at an unprecedented scale and reduced cost. As Offshore Technician, Communications you will provide support for our pilot fleet deployed off the Oregon Coast. Additionally, you will assist in the testing and development of new operations which facilitate rapid commercialization of a large-scale fleet abroad. Once the technology and operations have been successfully demonstrated, your primary duty will be training new crews internationally to execute the offshore operations developed in the Pacific Northwest.</p><p>Initially this role will focus on operating, maintaining, and repairing the communications equipment required for our offshore operations. However, the intent is to cross train technicians across disciplines in order to expand the team’s capacity for training crews overseas. Thus, both learning new skills and training others on the skills you currently command will be required.</p><p>This role demands a hands-on learner with the commitment and curiosity required for continued education. This individual must enjoy and be capable of passing on knowledge to others. We are organized as a public benefit corporation and are backed by leading venture capital firms, private investors, philanthropic investors, and endowments.</p><p>We strive to be the best team on the planet and we compensate our team accordingly.</p>Responsibilities<ul><li>Provide operational support for the deployment, recovery, and repair of a North Pacific pilot fleet. Initial focus on communications with the intent of broadening ownership through training.</li><li>Operate, maintain, and repair offshore communications hardware / software. These may include various radio protocols, satellite communications, and networking infrastructure.</li><li>Participate in cross training with other disciplines (mechanical, hydraulic, deck operations, etc.).</li><li>Train other team members on communications hardware, software, and theory.</li><li>Work alongside engineering to commission and test new equipment utilized for offshore operations</li><li>Collaborate with engineering to improve existing and develop new means for offshore operations</li><li>Assist in maintenance of owned equipment.</li><li>Travel abroad to train crews internationally on the novel operations developed during pilot testing.</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul><li>Experience working offshore for extended periods</li><li>Demonstrated hands-on experience operating and repairing communications equipment in a marine, offshore, military, or comparable remote/field environment</li><li>Willingness and ability to both lead training and participate in inter-discipline training</li><li>Ability to travel up to 50% of year offshore</li><li>Ability to travel 300+ miles offshore</li><li>Holder of active TWIC or have ability to obtain.</li><li>Ability to adhere to and promote a culture of safety</li></ul>Desired Qualifications<ul><li>Understanding of basic AC and DC electrical theory</li><li>Exposure to mechanical and hydraulic industrial equipment</li><li>Experience participating in the fabrication and commissioning of new industrial equipment</li><li>Experience interfacing with engineering teams</li><li>Experience operating and maintaining PLC systems</li></ul>Schedule &amp; Availability<ul><li>This position is based on a rotational offshore schedule, working long shifts while offshore to support 24/7 operations.</li><li>While on hitch, you should expect 12-hour days, seven days per week, in a dynamic offshore environment.</li><li>The Offshore Technician is a frontline role; flexibility for weather, vessel availability, and mission timelines is required.</li><li>Travel overseas will be required.</li></ul>Compensation and Benefits<p>If hired for this full-time role, you will receive:</p><ul><li>Cash compensation of $100,000 - $140,000.</li><li>Equity in the company.
