POSITION SUMMARYThe Education Intern supports the work of the Population and Sustainability program. The program tackles the upstream causes of the wildlife extinction crisis by addressing our current endless growth economic model. We fight for solutions that advance justice, equity, health, and a compassionate world where both people and wildlife can thrive. The Education Intern will advance our Simplify the Holidays and Endangered Species Condoms campaigns by creating educational resources, building partnerships, and furthering engagement to address the often-overlooked upstream drivers of the climate crisis with K-12 educators. The intern should have a background in education or experience with aligning activities to academic standards. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Work with team members to create age-appropriate educational resources and classroom activities for K-12 audiences using content from our Simplify the Holidays and Endangered Species Condoms campaigns.</li><li>Work with team members to develop a Simplify the Holidays program to reduce plastic consumption and waste during the holidays dedicated to a K-12 environment.</li><li>Conduct research related to the use of plastics in schools, Scout troops, and other K-12 environments.</li><li>Assist with campaign outreach and dissemination of resources to K-12 educators.</li><li>Perform other job-related duties as assigned.</li></ul> ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS<ul><li>Good verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Likes working in collaboration with a diverse group of people</li><li>Ability to think creatively and strategically</li><li>Experience working with a team and independently</li><li>Detail oriented and good time management skills</li><li>Excellent organization and computer skills</li><li>Strong writing and research skills</li><li>A passion for and knowledge of protecting biodiversity</li></ul> PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS <ul><li>Background in K-12 education</li><li>Familiarity with K-12 academic standards</li><li>Experience working in curriculum development</li><li>Experience communicating about complex issues in simple language</li></ul>  WORKING CONDITIONSNormal working schedule is Monday-Friday, schedule will be determined with your supervisor.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of this job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
