Internship Program

Our Internship Program is designed to provide an opportunity for top students to work on emerging energy topics alongside our staff of industry experts. Candidates in science and engineering, economics, business, public policy, and related disciplines are all encouraged to apply.  The program is highly selective.  Ideal candidates will combine enthusiasm for their topics, academic excellence, and relevant work experience.

We require a minimum commitment of two to three months for the internship, but beginning and end dates are flexible and can be tailored to individual situations.

Successful applicants will work with E3 experts on a range of topics.  Interns will also contribute to active E3 projects.  The main goals of the program are to:

- Provide students with the opportunity to work in a professional consulting atmosphere in which their research can be put into immediate practice;

- Provide students with an opportunity to develop a research “deliverable” that they can use as the basis of future research, publications, and applications;

- Provide E3 with an opportunity to work with top students who may be interested in consulting careers after graduation.

Application Requirements:

-  Resume
-  Name, position, phone, and email of one faculty reference
-  Unofficial transcript
- Writing sample
- Interview Questions

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.  Most E3 staff are currently working in a hybrid capacity, spending some time in the office and some time working from home. Due to uncertainty around the Coronavirus, internships may be hybrid or remote this year. We will keep candidates updated as we find out more information.
Stipend
Interns earn a monthly stipend commensurate with experience.

E3 Location and Logistics
E3's San Francisco Office is located in the Financial District near BART and Muni transportation.  Due to the Coronavirus, internships may be remote this year. Interns are expected to work during E3’s regular business hours, which are 9 am to 6 pm.

No phone calls please.
