You’re a leader with vision in establishing and driving data science and analytics initiatives in data-intense organizations.  You develop sophisticated models and implement them in software to help partners understand and visualize both time-series and complex laboratory datasets.  You work with other contributors across Sila, applying state-of-the-art analytical software engineering to repeatedly process data created by our on-site research and production plant. You understand and appropriately apply statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to increase value for our users and the efficiency of our team. You value helping and mentoring team members to unlock the potential of the data they’re analyzing.

  • With senior technical partners, develop dashboards to monitor performance and visualizations to inform ongoing investigation and experimentation.
  • Apply modern data science practices to increase maintainability and shared ownership of our data analysis platform.
  • With colleagues in Data Systems, triage incoming requests from our partners and prioritize ongoing development.
  • Partner with Data Systems, respond as needed to understand, mitigate, correct and prevent operational incidents.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of work experience in data science and/or statistics
  • A B.S. or higher in data science, computer science, engineering, math or physical sciences or equivalent training / experience.
  • You effectively engage in design and development of new algorithms, models and data handling software.
  • Systems-level thinking. You approach your work holistically, and the solutions you craft and build demonstrate careful consideration of all aspects of each problem.
  • Skills and working experience with relational, document-oriented and key-value storage architectures.
