The Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven manager of manufacturing test engineering who will be the point person on a mixed internal/external team supporting the technical development and implementation of manufacturing test infrastructure for SPAN products. As the manager of manufacturing test, you will lead the effort to scale up SPAN’s manufacturing test capability from low- to high-volume manufacturing, drawing on your prior experience in manufacturing test to help us ramp quickly and smoothly to meet the growing demand for SPAN’s products.

In this position, you will be:

  • Responsible for the manufacturing test architecture of all SPAN products.

  • Managing the full manufacturing test infrastructure development process, including test plan development, fixture build, software, data capture and infrastructure deployment.  This includes prototype to volume production leading a cross functional team including engineers and third-party vendors.

  • Coordinating with the SPAN Engineering Team in the design and development of test infrastructure that will be used for both development and manufacturing applications. This would include determining test specifications and parameters, producing test documentation, deployment and troubleshooting of test infrastructure.

  • Focusing on translating various internal and external requirements into test operations and plans with the appropriate coverage, and assisting with iteration when new coverage issues are discovered,

  • Driving the optimization of test infrastructure for manufacturing, assessing the strengths and weaknesses of tests to support manufacturing environments.

  • Making key build-vs-buy decisions about test fixtures; Finding and selecting capable vendors.

  • Managing relationships with third-party fixture development shops and our CM’s manufacturing test team.

  • Participating in product design reviews and offering DFT feedback to Span engineers.

  • Aiding the NPI team as needed in troubleshooting and supporting in-line test fixture issues.

  • Responsible for test throughput and capacity analysis.  Also, driving yield improvements. 

About You

Required Qualifications

We are seeking a highly capable manufacturing test leader who has:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with typically 2-4+ years of management or leadership experience.

  • Strong fundamentals in test engineering with good analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Professional experience deploying functional test infrastructure for PCBAs and full products in a manufacturing production environment.

  • Working knowledge of test software (eg: LabView), databases and database management.

  • Solid abilities with lab equipment (e.g. high speed oscilloscope etc.) and hardware troubleshooting.

  • Excellent project management skills, including written and verbal communication. Ability to effectively communicate testing architectures, plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options across all management levels.

Bonus Qualifications

We would love to hire someone who has:

  • Knowledge of DFT requirements in support of both flying probe or ICT, and functional tests.

  • Working knowledge of Python.

  • Created or managed data visualization tools and dashboards (Tableau, PowerBI, etc).

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers.

  • Knowledge of industrial safety requirements such as UL 508, OSHA, etc.

  • Demonstrated success working in a cross disciplinary, multi-cultural environment.

 

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $130,500 - $178,000 plus benefits, equity and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skills, experience and education or training. This range correlates to the relative level of the candidate we believe we need for the role and may require an adjustment for candidates of a different level.
