Job Description

The Role
We are looking for a Credit Manager to lead the underwriting of counterparty credit risk in support of distributed energy financings and investments.  This is a great role for someone looking to play a leadership role at a fast-growing PE backed business. This role will report to our Chief Investment Officer and is based in New York City. 


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop risk scoring process to evaluate existing and potential clients for senior management, using credit and risk strategy guidelines published by rating agencies or embedded in loan agreements to make an accurate assessment of the borrowers’ credit, management, operational and financial status
  • Prepare intensive credit reviews with detailed analysis to include financial statement analysis, cash flow extractions, projections, ratio analysis and recommendations
  • Utilize multiple trustworthy sources of data to make a fair and balanced assessment of the borrowers’ credit, management, operational and financial capabilities
  • Recommend credit enhancement strategies based on quantitative modeling, including the use of Monte Carlo simulations, and qualitative factors
  • Attend client meetings with Relationship Managers to review the publication of quarterly financial statements and earnings calls to monitor changing credit conditions of existing/target clients and recommend appropriate action
  • Coordinate and collaborate with accounting and operations departments to effect good bi-directional flow of information to ensure a smooth and efficient credit process without compromising credit quality
  • Utilize multiple media outlets to gather and synthesize relevant data pertaining to existing and potential customers into reports
  • Provide data to Directors regarding credit worthiness of potential clients, vendors, contractors and provide advice on credit related issues
  • Prepare the Quarterly Portfolio Review and other materials required by Risk Committee
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of compliance data with respect to existing/prospect clients

The Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years of experience in a Credit Manager role; financial institution or rating agency experience is required
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, and related financial statements
  • Strong analytical skills; excellent writing skills; experience working under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Excellent ability to communicate and engage internal and external customers and stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of related bank products and services
  • Possess one of MBA, CFA or CPA credentials
  • Strong aptitude gauging industry and market trends
