Job Description

Are you ready to rise to the challenge of climate change with the team that will deliver? Form Energy is a U.S. technology and manufacturing company that is developing and commercializing pioneering energy storage technologies to enable the electric grid to run on 100% renewable energy, every day of the year.
Supported by leading investors such as Breakthrough Energy Ventures, ArcelorMittal, TPG Rise, MIT’s The Engine, and others, we share a common belief that low-cost, multi-day energy storage is the key to enable tomorrow’s zero carbon electric grid. Driven by our core values of humanity, excellence, and creativity, we are deeply motivated and inspired to create a better world. We need talented, hardworking individuals who share our goal of tackling the challenge of climate change. Do you want to work with us today to build a better tomorrow?
Role DescriptionForm Energy is hiring an intern to contribute to battery data processing as part of our Battery Data group of the Software team. In this role, you will develop tools that help battery scientists make the most of their experimental data. You will work closely with battery engineers to understand their needs and collaboratively come up with solutions. You will work with a supportive mentor as part of a highly collaborative software team, and will learn to develop professional software while helping tackle climate change.

What You'll Do:

  • Take on a clearly-scoped project where you will write Python code that processes battery data to enable analysis of experimental data
  • Document software and data for end users as well as other developers
  • Work closely with end users (battery scientists and engineers) to ensure that they can access and understand the output of your code
  • Projects might include: writing code to compute new metrics based on time series data, integrating a new source of information to generate alerts about how experiments are going, or developing a user interface to allow easy annotation of data.

What You'll Bring:

  • Pursuing Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, data science, or related field
  • Fluency in Python; experience with SQL, Pandas, numpy, git, and/or unit testing is a plus
  • Eagerness to learn and apply best practices (documentation, testing, architecture choices, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience analyzing data in some context is a plus (battery experience not required!)
  • Able to work full-time for at least 10 weeks starting in May or June 2023

Besides joining a community of people working to make the world better, Form Energy commits to you equitable compensation, stock options, and offers a generous benefits package to make sure you have the support you need to thrive.
We cover 100% of employee premiums and 80% of dependent premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance for full time employees. We offer a flexible Paid Time Off program and every employee, regardless of gender identity or expression, is eligible for 12 weeks of paid parental bonding leave. A full listing of our benefits is available on our careers page
At Form Energy, we are working toward a 100% renewable energy future for everyone in the world.
