SUMMARY

Based in Atlanta, Nexamp’s Southeast Division is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the development of Distributed Generation (DG), Behind The Meter (BTM), and Community Solar projects in a number of select markets. This geography will go as far north as Virginia, and as far west as Arkansas. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of distributed generation and/or utility scale solar project development experience. The individual hired to fulfill this role will lead the origination and development of ground and rooftop projects from 1- 10 MW. This individual will have an understanding of how to read and interpret future clean energy policy to develop projects based on market opportunity.

This role will be based remotely in Atlanta. The Business Development Manager will report directly to our Director, Business Development, Southeast. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all phases of solar project development, from origination to start of construction. Key responsibilities include:

  • Site origination, site control negotiation, project permitting, utility interconnection, and tax agreement negotiation.
  • Crafting a compelling value proposition that reflects avoided cost, load profile, applicable tariffs, and layered revenue streams.
  • Close coordination with junior business development staff to develop and implement effective lead campaign strategies.
  • Development of long-term relationships with site owners, energy users, and other project stakeholders.
  • Active management of development schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective projects.
  • Management of external consultants as needed in conjunction with land acquisition and permitting activities.
  • Fostering support from state, county and local governments, community groups, and abutters.
  • Monitoring of state clean energy policy, and project opportunities, including but not limited to Public and Private RFP’s.  
  • Support of internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction.
  • Development of sales presentations, proposals, and other materials as needed to support project development efforts.
  • Occasional travel is required; some evening and weekend work required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player.  Key qualifications as follows:

  • Three or more years of energy industry experience in a business development role, with a successful track record in project development.
  • Integration of PV and/or energy storage systems.
  • Commercial real estate prospecting and business model understanding.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective team leader and collaborator
  • Ability to travel up to 25% with some overnight travel
