Job Description

 

Role Summary: 

Sesame Solar is looking for highly motivated and exceptional Logistics and Procurement professional to help scale manufacture of our Mobile Nanogrids to decarbonize Disaster Response and Off-grid power.  

From the procurement side of the role you will be managing all the parts that make up the our patented Mobile Nanogrid Solutions, and all equipment and facilities needed to support our operations.  You will be responsible for all commercial aspects of the awarding of new supplier business, developing strong supplier relationships, and working side by side with our engineering counterparts to push the envelope of our technical requirements. You will also take the lead in making sure Sesame Solar can meet its cost targets, that suppliers deliver to our aggressive timelines, and parts are received at the highest level of quality.  From the logistics side of the role, you will be responsible to design, develop, validate, and implement methods and tools that improve the operational flexibility and execution of a lean production system. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of methods for material ordering, communication, transportation, packaging, and distribution throughout the supply chain. 

Responsibilities: 

PROCUREMENT 

  • Lead the strategic sourcing process by ensuring that the product is matched to the right supplier, and they are effective in delivering the product in collaboration with Engineering 
  • Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on Non-disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, Statements of Work and Production Supply Agreements 
  • Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities, and develop a sourcing strategy and roadmap while considering market conditions as well as technology roadmaps.  
  • Ensure the sourcing strategy is aligned with Sesame Solar’s goals related to sustainability, equity, and diversity. 
  • Perform detailed assessments of supplier quote submissions with should-cost analysis and implement cost reductions on prototype and series production products and services 
  • Actively manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics, plant audits and technical reviews 
  • Work closely with Engineering and Operations to track sourcing progress, execute product kick-off, and manage progress towards vehicle build events 
  • Drive and implement continuous cost improvements through negotiations to achieve operational cost targets 
  • Establish strong supplier relationships and manage performance through the creation of key performance metrics 
  • Manage departmental budgets in collaboration with Sesame Solar Finance team to ensure contracts are on target 
  • Analyze current spend data and find opportunities for reducing cost 

LOGISTICS: 

  • Develop and implement solutions that focus on reducing lead time throughout value stream 
  • Reduce cost by eliminating waste related to the supply chain 
  • Develop standardized work for material flow 
  • Facilitate and recommend departmental layouts that optimize material flow 
  • Forecast future space requirements by considering inventory policy, ramp-ups/ramp-downs, and equipment/team member utilization 
  • Actively pursue new systems, technologies, and the drive for a connected value stream (eg, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and Intralogistics Execution Systems (IES)).  
  • Provide logistics support on cross-functional teams 

 

Basic Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or Accounting 
  • 5+ years of Manufacturing related purchasing. procurement, or strategic sourcing experience 
  • 3+ years of negotiating fabricating materials (such as sheet metal) and electromechanical systems (such as wiring, batteries) or related commodities and electrical equipment 
  • 3+ years of experience working with or implementing processes and systems to facilitate lchange management 
  • 3+ years of experience working with cross functional engineering, supply chain, and logistics partner teams 
  • Working knowledge of inventory controls, material process flows, process improvement  
  • Proficient data analysis skills 
  • 3+ years of experience with procurement software 
  • 3+ years MS Office 360  
  • Working knowledge of the fabrication labor market and materials/commodities market trends 
  • Must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record
  • Background check
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

  • Good interpersonal and communications skills 
  • High level of integrity 
  • Analytical skills to ensure both internal and external requests are fulfilled 
  • Attention to detail to ensure that the sourcing criteria meets the Stakeholder’s requirements 
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Understanding of design development and/or manufacturing best practices 
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with industrial controls (hydraulics, actuators, valves, sensors, electronic control systems)
  • Experience with electrical wiring service and mechanical systems

Working Location(s): 

  • Customer sites all over the US
  • Prefer Jackson, MI based

Travel Requirements: 

  • Up to 60%

Compensation Information: $50,000 - $60,000 per year depending on experience. Salary/No overtime. Potential for performance bonuses. No relocation package offered at this time No relocation package offered at this time
