Job Description

We are growing and currently looking for a Business Development Manager to join our Sales team! Do you want to work with advanced technology that prevents food waste? Do you have demonstrated experience with sales and account management? Do you also have a passion for sustainability and love getting new customers on board? Then we are looking for you!

About Orbisk:

Orbisk is a start-up with 35 employees, with a mission to make the world food system more sustainable. We do this with advanced technology. One of the biggest challenges worldwide is food waste. Worldwide, about one third of the food produced is wasted. In the hospitality industry in the Netherlands alone, this is at least 150 million kilos per year!

We help hospitality and food service establishments to reduce their food waste by at least half. We do this by installing a smart artificially intelligent camera with image recognition algorithm, linked to a scale. Together, we map all food waste fully automatically and report this data back in an action-oriented online dashboard. With these insights, the chef or F&B manager can take targeted actions, resulting in a reduction of food waste! And of course, the knife cuts both ways; less food waste also means less purchasing costs. Normally a customer earns back our device 3 to 5 times!

What exactly are you going to do? 

You will be responsible for bringing in new customers and managing accounts within the hospitality, food services and healthcare markets. You are not a shrewd salesperson, but work with a consultative selling approach, focusing on good customer relationships and sustainable solutions. You will be focused full time on bringing in new customers and increasing our monitors with those customers.  You will then ensure a good transfer to our Customer Success department. 

The sales team currently consists of a Head of Sales and Marketing, one Account Manager and one Sales Manager. You will work closely with the team and report directly to the Head of Sales and Marketing. 

Your activities are:

-Making a sales plan for your market approach
-Proactively approaching prospects via Linkedin, telephone, email, events or via your network for making (physical) appointments
-Visiting prospects across the country
-Concluding multi-year deals for our installations with which we structurally help customers prevent food waste
-Adjusting your KPIs and targets where necessary; you are at the wheel!

Who are we looking for:

  • You have a completed bachelor's degree
  • You have at least 4-8 years of experience in sales and account management 
  • You have a relevant network and experience in hospitality, food services, healthcare or related markets
  • You have an enormous drive to always go the extra mile for the customer
  • You have experience and get energy from doing acquisition
  • You have excellent communication skills in Dutch and English
  • You are a self-starter and used to working independently
  • You are able to work in an organized, structured manner
  • You want to work with a product that really makes an impact on organizations and the world
