Ideal Candidate

COIL is seeking an organized, self-starting Utility Manager to contribute to our Pre-Construction team. Responsive and focused, you are a strong communicator both with internal teams as well as utility representatives and customers. Your determination and confidence will serve you well as you work to push through blockers and achieve results. Communication with utilities and AHJs can be challenging and slow moving, but you maintain momentum with your projects through grit and timely follow-ups.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gather information from utilities on timelines, workflows and EV incentive programs and pass along to the Sales team
  • Work directly with utilities to apply for new electrical services while utilizing any relevant incentive programs
  • Review, prepare, submit, monitor, and pay for permit applications in accordance with jurisdictional requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and jurisdictional employees to understand and resolve any jurisdictional comments
  • Work with jurisdictions and Design Engineers to fully understand, communicate, and resolve jurisdictional corrections
  • Advocate for COIL and work with local jurisdictions to streamline permit processes and inspection requests.
  • Forge direct relationships with utility personnel to facilitate and expedite new service requests
  • Query utilities to identify available electrical capacity for customers seeking new services
  • Work with utilities from beginning to end of project to ensure electrical service upgrade has been achieved
  • Communicate all relevant information concerning next steps and timelines to the customer, jurisdiction, and internal COIL team
  • Provide frequent verbal and written communication with utility company representatives
  • Maintain database of all correspondence with utility companies
  • Manage utility coordination efforts on multiple projects in a highly organized manner
  • Drive the conversation with relevant utilities regarding next steps and act as a liaison between our engineers, project management team and the end customer
  • Understand & relay local jurisdictional requirements as it relates to the installation of a new electrical service with relevant utility
  • Update Database with current regulations and requirements
  • Manage and direct team members on utility and permit procedures and tasks
  • Provide oversight to permitting and utility process

● Experience with public utilities and/or governmental agencies highly desirable

● Project management experience
